I've been accused of trying to develop a private hunting reserve. Well, I never hunt there. Why hunt where you can't see over 50 feet and it is much easier up above the Coal Mine? That watershed is to be sold next October. Three clear cuts and Willow Creek, like the three other creeks, will be dry nine months of the year. There is to be nine miles of highway built in ther. The timber in that basin is almost all chip material and will probably be bought by Louisiana Pacific, as it is the best cuts now adjoining this area, namely, the best cut up there, the Kelly cut, and the Horse Heaven cuts, all to L.P. Kinzua isn't getting these cuts and says that they would do nothing to harm the econ omy of Heppner. Other cities have gotten control of their watersheds, namely Walla Walla. Milton-. Freewater. The Dalles. Hood River and Portland. We could, too. by going directly to our congressmen, as they did. The Dalies' watershed is being select logged with horses and they even put diapers on those horses. I think the County Court could get an injunction and stop this sale until something can be done. By 1!W0 that figure would increase to 10,150. With the addi tion of the overpass it Is estima ted that that figure would be reduced to 6.650. The overpass will also be a definite benefit in selling com panies on locating in the port or industrial area, according to Larry Dalrymple, Boardman City Manager. IT'S THE MOST!
