She weighed 7 lbs., 14 lfc ot. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Joe Miller of Heppner, Betty Marquardt of Lex ington and the late Carl Mar quardt. Great-grandparents are Mr. and Mrs.T.E. Messenger, Sr., Lexington, Mr. and Mrs. Ed gar L. Schroeder of Hebo and Mr. and Mrs. John Miller of Lebannon. Great-great-grandmother is Hazel Hargif of Portland. Matthew Patrick Towner-A son, Matthew Patrick, was born to Earl and Judy Towner of Bend on August 6. He weighed 8 lbs. Sheriffs Report The Morrow County Sher iff's Department office at the Morrow County Courthouse in , Heppner handled the following reports and cases during the . past week: On August 10, John Richard Barrett, 52. of Heppner, was arrested by a Heppner Police Department officer on a just ice court bench warrant for failure to appear for a hearing on charges of alleged Driving While Suspended and Driving Under the Influence of Intoxi cants and a warrant from the Pendleton Police Department for allegedly Driving While Suspended. On August U, the Boardman Fire Department responded to a structure fire at U & I Inc., Columbia Ave. E., Boardman. A Boardman ambulance also responded to the fire and transported two people to Con solidated Good Shepherd Hos pital. Hermiston, for smoke inhalation treatment. On August 12. a grass fire was reported three to four miles north of the Gerald Rea ranch on Sabre Farms prop erty, just off the Bombing Range Road. Sabre Farms personnel handled the fire. Also on August 12. a field fire was reported on W. Kun tie Road. The Boardman Fire Department responded. On August 13, a Boardman ambulance responded to a motor vehicle accident on In terstate 84 about four miles east of Boardman. One person was transported to Consoli dated Good Shepherd Hospi tal. Hermiston. On August 14. Randal Char les Jydstrup, 27, was arrested by a Boardman Police Depart ment officer on a fugitive warrant from the Hermiston State Police office on charges for alleged No License-Operators Suspended. On August IS, a Boardman ambulance responded to a motor vehicle accident three miles east of junction 730 on Interstate 84. Three people were transported to Consoli dated Good Shepherd Hospi tal. Hermiston. In a second August IS inci dent, a theft of services was reported at the Union 76 station. Boardman. A tire valued at $5 was taken. The vehicle left the scene west bound and officers were un able to locate it. Garden clubs combine to award premiums BvJt'STINE HEATHER FORD Two of the garden clubs of the county, lone Garden Club and Heppner Garden Club, have until this year alternated in giving a championship award to the outstanding en trant In the flower department at the Morrow County Fair. This year the two clubs have changed this plan and are cooperating In giving the fol lowing cash premiums, which are in addition to fair pre miums: They offer $10 for the best horticultural specimen displayed, another $10 for the best plant, potted or hanging, and $10 for the most outstand ing flower urrangement. The winner of the most blue ribbon awards in Department VII, the flower show, will be given a $15 cash premium in ad dition to the other awards by the two clubs. Simonton makes annual trip Tom Simonton made his annual trip to Heppner last week to paint rodeo cartoons on merchant's windows. And wherever Simonton went at tentive children were sure to follow. The Pendleton artist has been coming to Heppner since , altout 1975 to paint the windows.
