Delbert Vinson died at his home on Saturday evening after an extended illness, and Elsie (Allyn) Fox at Pioneer Mem orial Hospital where she was taken Friday evening by am bulance. CWA met at the home of Delpha Jones on Tuesday for a regular meeting. Plans were discussed for a booth at the Morrow County Fair and a committee of Mr. and Mrs. Glover Peck and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Buchanan were ap pointed to take care of this project. Plans were further discussed concerning the Blue Mountain Fiddlers Concert which will be held Sat. night, October 16 at (he Grange Hall. This will be their second con cert and it is hoped to be a yearly event. There will be a supper at 6:30 p.m. and pie and coffee will be served during the evening. It was also announced that Booster Night will be held Sept. 25 at the hall with Glenna Belle Lewis, state lecturer, as guest speaker. Musical selections and other entertainment are planned for the evening. Those present were Josie Peck, Charlene Papineau, Jean Nelson, Frances Smouse, Marie Stea gall, and the hostess. Door prizes were won by Josie Peck and Frances Smouse. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Papineau and Mr. and Mrs. O.W. Cuta forth spent several days at Anthony Lakes recently. Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Van Leuven of LaGrande and Enid Stamback of Baker were visit ors for several days at the C.C. Jones home. Erda Pieper consulted a physician in Pendleton on Monday. Leuella Taylor (Mrs. Bob) is employed at the Good Sam aritan Center in Hermiston. The committe working on the yearly Historical Society production met at the home of Inez Erwin on Wednesday afternoon. The book, which was intended to be a quarter ly, has developed into a larger edition due to the generous amount of information pro vided and will be printed yearly. i The committee has announ ced that it is about ready to be printed and they hope it will be available at the yearly meet ing of the society which is scheduled for Sept. 26 at the Lexington Grange hall. The lone City Council approves liquor permit applications The lone City Council ap proved liquor permit applica tions for Bristow's Market, the Sagebrush Saloon and Beech er's Cafe at a regular monthly meeting last Tuesday, August 10, reported Diana Starr, city recorder. The committee welcomes all stories of early happenings in Morrow County, as well as short fun type articles. Please send any thing you might enjoy seeing in print to the committee. Those present for the after noon were the Chairman Lucile Peck, Lorraine Grif fith, Inez Erwin, Etta Parker, Ruth McCabe and Delpha Jones. A few of the committee members were unable to at tend. Lovely refreshments were served. This group spent much time and effort in this first publication. The Three Links Club met at the home of Kathy Tellechea on Thursday afternoon. Plans were discussed for the fall flea market, and the date of Oct. 16 was set. Chairman is Kathy Tellechea, and calls may be made to her If one has articles to donate. Members were re minded of the PNG luncheon to be held the first Wednesday of Sept. and of lodge the first Thursday. Delpha Jones won door prizes. There will be more of the books "lone and Us" soon for sale again at the Bank of Eastern Oregon In lone. There was a demand for more of the books and they have been ordered. Vicky Bowen and twins James and Katie from Herm iston were Lexington callers at the Kenneth and Cecil Jones home one day last week. Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Jones were dinner guests of Earl Miller on Thursday evening, at the Nomad Restaurant in Boardman, and were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bowen in Hermiston on Friday evening to celebrate the Jones' wed ding anniversary. Dan Smith of Hermiston returned home with them for a few days vacation. Linda Jones and boys Chris and Mike and nephew Scott Johnston of Heppner were Seaside callers last week. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Adams have moved to Springfield and he will be teaching at Mar cola. Cheryl has been working at the school district office in Lexington. Taking her place is Rhonda Lorenz of Heppner. Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Smith and family and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Kulth and son were Lexington and Heppner cal lers from Hermiston on Mon day. The wood will be used to provide b?at for the elderly. Volunteers are need ed to, cut the wood to proper size for delivery, Any people or organizations wanting to donate time to cut the wood are asked to contact the cen ter, 676 5873. Some of the logs are in Heppner, others at Lexington. Winter is soon coming and the center has had numerous requests for wood. The requests for warm bed ding for winter months will soon becoming and volunteers are needed to sew the tops and backs together. Any lining for the quilts would also be ap preciated. She spent many hours crocheting and knitting for the Artifactory and Sidewalk Sales as well as for the R.S.V.P. program. Her cheerful attitude and inspira tion will be missed by many.
