Miss Wright took first on a local level in the essay contest and another first for her poster on the district level. District No. One includes 10 counties in Eastern Oregon. She was awarded a $10 cash prize for each, and a family pass to Wildlife Safari, near Roseburg. Extension Agent A limited amount of Hill 81 (OR 68007) Foundation seed will be available to growers of certified seed in Morrow County for fall planting. A preliminary estimate indi cates that 319 bushels will be available for planting in Mor row County. Actual alloca tions will be made after har vest this summer. Foundation Hill 81 will be sold by the Foundation Seed Project, OSU. for 3o cents per pound. Foundation seed will be al located to growers who will follow through with the certi fication process. Seed growers should be willing to sell half or more of the resulting pro duction to other grain growers or dealers. The Extension agent will make the allocation of seed within the county. If more seed is requested than is available, a committee of Free Horse Film Festival slated The Blue Mountain Paint Horse Club, Columbia Basin Quarter Horse Club and the Oregon Trail Appaloosa Horse Club are jointly sponsoring a free Horse Film Festival in two different sessions, at Thompson Hall at the Umatil la County Fairgrounds. 425 W. Orchard, in Hermiston. Each club will also have an informa tion booth set up for their respective breed, said Festiv al spokesperson. Norma Crocker. Those who wish to obtain Foundation Hill 81 must sub mit a "Request for Founda tion Seed" form to the Morrow County Extension office in Heppner by July 1. Hill 81 is a soft-white com mon winter wheat variety. The main advantage of Hill 81 for the dryland area of Central Eastern Oregon is its winter hardiness - it is more winter hardy than Stephens and near ly as winter hardy as Daws. The yield on dryland of Hill 81 in our area has generally been slightly lower than Stephens Hill 81 may have some yield advantage over Stephens un der irrigation. Hill 81 has a different source of stripe rust resistance than Stephens and could lessen the impact of a major epidemic if Stephens broke down to this disease. "The Hunt Seat Horse."
