Hill 81 is a soft-white com
mon winter wheat variety.
The main advantage of Hill 81
for the dryland area of Central
Eastern Oregon is its winter
hardiness - it is more winter
hardy than Stephens and near
ly as winter hardy as Daws.
The yield on dryland of Hill 81
in our area has generally been
slightly lower than Stephens
Hill 81 may have some yield
advantage over Stephens un
der irrigation. Hill 81 has a
different source of stripe rust
resistance than Stephens and
could lessen the impact of a
major epidemic if Stephens
broke down to this disease.
