For the previous report (week ended Sept. S) figure were 32,000 or 31 percent. Of the 756 sawmills in the" West, 113 were clotted and 271 were operating at curtailed levels. Figurea for the pre vious report were 138 and 163. The report is for Western awmills only. It does not include paper, plywood, par-tick-board or any other manu facturing operation of the Western forest producta in . dustry. Plans have now been com pleted, and contact made, lo make it an exciting and fun-filled bus trip to view a numher of interesting sites. Kirk hum House, a historical site, Carnegie Center. Whit man College Campus and Cultural Center, and Ft. Walla Walla are scheduled stops. Kirkhum House also includes an antique shop, and an interest ins little herb garden in the hack yard AIno included is a narrated bus drive thru some of the more historical parts of town, with guide Mary Kock of Walla Walla to descriie the various homes and businesses. Time, too, is included for women to spend free time in the down town area to see some of the newer or renovated businesses. Luncheon will be at the Squire Inn, where each may select the food of their choice. Costs for the tour are $11 for bus. $1 donation to Kirkham House for tour, $1.50 for Ft. Walla Walla, and your lunch eon choice. Bus will leave Heppner from the city park at 7 a.m. with a stop in Lexington and Irrigon to pick up passen gers. Those interested are asked to respond by Oct. 7. including your check for $13.50 made payable to Extension Home maker's Committee, c-o Exten sion Office, Box 397. Heppner, or call to make a reservation. Everyone interested is wel come, both women and men. The tour is the fall annual event sponsored by the group to offer local residents the opportunity to learn more of the history of the local area. The tour includes something of interest for everyone. 4-11 FAMILY NIGHT PLAN NED All 4 11 families are asked to keep an open date for Thurs day, Oct. 8, 7p.m that's the time for the annual 4 H Family Night for South Morrow County. The event will be potluck, with meat dish furn ished. Families may bring salads, vegetables, or desserts.
