Heppner. 10 a.m i $ Lovett SHERIFF'S REPORT On April 19. an accident with injuries was reported on Interstate 84 highway, west bound at the Roardman exit. Three persons were reported to be injured. A Roardman ambulance, the Roardman Police Dept. and the Oregon State Police responded to the call. Also on April 19. a two vehicle accident was reported in Lexington. No injuries were reported. A Morrow County Sheriff's deputy responded to the call. On April 18, the Roardman Police Dept. arrested Ronald E. Peltz. Jr.. for alleged military desertion from Fort Benjamin. Harrison, Indiana. The subject was lodged at Umatilla Co. Jail. Also on April 18. a fire was reported at the Pete Skow residence. The Heppner Fire Dept. responded to the call. On April 17. Ann Marie Thompson of the Hair Gallery. Irrigon. reported the theft of services. A Sheriff's deputy repsonded to the call. On April 16. at 8:18 a.m., a 911 call was received at the Sheriff's Dept. regarding an injury accident on Highway 207 on Heppner Hill towards Ruggs. The Sheriff's Dept. responded to the call and a Heppner ambulance was dis patched to the scene. Mrs. Anton (Faye) Seitz and her daughter. Melanie Ann Seitz, were injured in the accident. Also on April 16. the Sheriff's Dept. arrested Ken neth Bruce Russell. 32. Irri gon. on a Lane County warrant for alleged contempt and violation of obligations imposed. On April 14, Artie Anderson, Desert Springs. Roardman. reported a stolen lawn mower. The Sheriiff's Dept. respond ed. The lawn mower was subsequently found. On April 10. an ambulance was requested at the U & I plant in Boardman for an 18-year-old girl with possible diabetic shock. A Boardman ambulance responded to the call. Boardman. A tree and Rrass were reported to he on fire. The Roardman Fire Dept. responded to the call. Obituary Donald F. Gilliam Funeral services for Donald F. Gilliam. 52. who died in his Heppner home on April 14. 1981, were held at the Heppner Masonic Temple on Saturday. April 18 at 1 p.m. Interment was at the Hep pner Masonic Cemetery. Gilliam was born May 21. 1929 at Heppner. the son of Ionard and Claire Groshens Gilliam. He attended Heppner schools and was graduated from Heppner High School in 1947. He was graduated from Oregon State University School of Forestry in 1952 and served with the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. stationed at Eniwetok. Following his dis charge he worked for the U.S. Forest Service and the postal service before becoming a bookkeeper for Morrow County Grain Growers where he worked for 10 years. He was the third generation of Gilliams who acted as a U S weather observer for the Heppner area. He had been the Heppner observer since 19Hfi. Gilliam was a life member of Heppner Lodge 69 AF&AM and Heppner Chapter 26 of Royal Arch Masons, he was a member of Al Kader Temple and its Past Masters Club, and a member of BPOF 358, Heppner. He is survived bv a brother Louis. Condon, three nieces and a nephew. For those who wish, contri butions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.
