Proceeds from the event will go to support the lone Volunteer Fire Department. Tickets will be sold at the door and the cost is $12.50 per couple and $6.50 per person. School board to meet The regular April meeting of the Morrow County School Board will be held in the A.C. Houghton Elementary School in Irrigon at 8 p.m., Monday, April 18. The Board is expected to consider issues which have stood in the way of a final ratification of the working agreement between the teach er representative and the Board. The Board will also consider a recommendation from the Boardman-Irrigon planning committee related to the school needs in the attendance area which is served by these two towns. The recommenda- Permits up The Morrow County Plan ning Commission will meet Monday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the Morrow County Court house at Heppner to consider two applications for condi tional use permits from, Boardman and Hermiston residents. Earl Trudeau of Boardman will seek a conditional use permit for multi-family resi dences in a farm zone involv ing 13 acres of land. A second application by Clarence W. and Mary A. Nelson of Hermiston involves a use permit to operate a concrete batch plant in an industrial zone involving 20 acres of Morrow County land. Other items include a re quest to purchase a mobile home in lone, selecting a manager for the lone pool, and to consider a recommendation to purchase a pickup truck for custodial use. The Board meeting will be preceded by a spell-off, a Morrow County spelling con test involving students who are top spellers from all community schools in the county. Sharpe and Preszler Con struction Company of Kenne wick, Wash., has been award ed the contract on Irrigon's water system improvements under a $U6,4oO Economic Development grant. The bid of $2,679. submitted by Sharpe and Preszler, was the lowest of three bids, with the highest at $89,150 and was almost $20,000 under the engineers' estimate of $82,478. The contract includes all schedules of the improve ments except the drilling and developing of the new well. This is under contract with John Brown's Company of Hermiston. Scheduled improvements in clude laying of 1,600 feet of 6 inch water line on Division and California Ave.; increas ing the reservoir capacity by adding 8 feet to its height; adding another pumphouse , and equipping it and the new well; adding an intertie be tween North Main Avenue and south of Highway 730 on 2nd St. The latter item will involve laying approximately 500 ft. of 6 in. main and will underpass both the highway and the railroad bed. Film showing FOR PETE'S SAKE ! , a film credited as "unique in its capacity to reach out to meet the problems of people," will be shown on Friday, April 15, at Christian Life Center, corner of Willow and Gale in Heppner. The full-length comedy drama, filmed in brilliant Eastmancolor by World Wide Pictures, will be shown once beginning at 7 p.m., and is open to the public at no admission charge. Irrigon residents are cau tioned that very little sprink ling of lawns and gardens will be permitted during the time work is being done on the reservoir and pumps.
