Every day of the fair will mark some kind of 4-H acti vity for youngsters, nine to 18. An estimated 250 will parti cipate in fair events next week in 4-H competition. Highlight for the home economist 4H'ers will be the Public Style Revue, slated for 8 p.m. on Tuesday in front of the grandstands. Burdine Tullis, county ex tension service, calls the revue the "biggee" and esti mated that at least 75 kids will participate. This is the chance for the youth's work to be paid off. They will be able to show off their work in sewing, knitting, crocheting or whatever to the the youths' information talk on anything. It is for all 4H'ers, including those in agriculture, livestock or home economics. They are all judg ed on the same basis. Thursday is also the day of the awards program, slated for 4:30 p.m. This awards program will include all phases of 4-H and the horse show held earlier this month. 4-H doesn't only include home economics though. 4-H livestock members from all areas of the county are beginning to put the finishing touches on their 4-H animal projects in anticipation of the upcoming fair. Increased nu mbers in all areas are expect ed this year. All animals are due at the fair grounds and in , I.,,..,,..,.,. " -! f -LUt t public. There is no charge. The girls will have been already judged on Monday. Under the Danish system, it is possible for all the partici pants to receive a blue ribbon for their efforts. Kay Bergs trom, an Oregon State University Home eco nomy student and 10 year 4H'er will narrate the revue as the girls model their work. There will be a break in the middle of the revue. The theme of "4-H Has Come A Long Way" will be related to the 4-H international program and the Japanese La bo ex change students. Mrs. Verne Evans is the style revue chairman. Other home economic ori ented events include food preparation on Wednesday starting at 9 am. The 41 1 'era will make and serve lunches, dinner, and make bread and sandwiches, etc. in contest all day. The event is open to the public and there's a chance for some free nibbling. Thursday at 9 a.m. marks the start of the favorite food show and 4-H presentations. The youths will work with table settings, menu making, and other duties of gracious host. Mrs. Tullis called it the style revue of the food club. The 4 II presentations are place by 7 p.m., Monday, August 23. All market animals will be weighed off the trucks on Monday. On Tuesday, all 4-H mem bers are invited to take part in the 4-H and FFA livestock Judging contest which will start at 1 p.m. Trophy and cash awards will be given for top team and individual plac ings. Livestock judging team members for the Pacific International Livestock Show ar,d the State Fair will be selected from top judges. Wednesday is an exciting day for all livestock members in that Judging of all market animals takes place that day. This is the day that 4-H mem bers have worked and looked forward to all year. Thursday is packed with a full day of activities. All 4 H fitting and showmanship cont ests are held that day starting at 9 a.m. In the afternoon the all-around showman from all the various divisions is select ed. At 4:30 p.m. the awards program is held in the main show arena. All livestock, horse and 4 H home econo mics awards are presented at that time. To put the finishing touches on the day, a 4 H fat stock sale will start at I p.m. All In all it looks tike one of the best fairs yet. Please plan 4-H ers cfivity on attending. Exhibitor meetings for all 4-H livestock members will be held daily at the fair this year, starting at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, August 24. These meetings will provide 4-H members an opportunity to talk with jud ges, receive information on scheduling and policy and allow for problems to be discussed. Daily herdsman ship awards will also be presented at these meetings. Herdsmanship is based on a club effort. Blue, red and white awards will be pre sented.
