Charges filed for theft and DUIL Randy Gale Sorick pled guilty to charges of theft in the second degree Tuesday before Justice of the Peace Ernest Jorgensen, Irrigon. - He was sentenced to one years probation as he is presently serving the remain der of a 30 day jail sentence in another county for another offense. The tool theft occured May 11 in Boardman when tools were reported stolen from a pickup. Sorick was later arrested in the Tri -Cities June for another charge and admitted taking the tools. Russell Dean Straube, Prineville, was arrested by Heppner City Police early Sunday morning. He was charged with driving while under the influence of intoxi cating liquor and for driving a vehicle with a suspended operators license. r. He is scheduled to appear in Justice Court. The MotorVehicles Division reported Monday that 34,624 persons had their driver's licenses suspended for vary ing periods of rime during the first half of the year, compar ed with 31,012 license suspen sions during the first six months of last year. Mandatory suspensions fol lowing conviction for driving under the influence of alcohol climbed 20 per cent, from 6,404 in the first half of 1974 to 7,714 in 1975. Besides being an Oregon state requirement, the pole numbering of lines is a necessary safety procedure and helps in good operational policy in outage procedures, line maintenance records and helps in necessary record keeping, according to Mana ger Dave Harrison. Ed Struthers has recently been selected as staking engineer and is in charge of this project along with another old catch up project, inven torying lines and making up records on existing lines built or purchased. Struthers was ' formerly a journeyman line man. Assisting Struthers this summer are college students Cliff Harris and Dave Mc Clain.
