Mr. Krebs was born in Troutdale. May I J. 1896. Mr. Krebs had been a prominent rancher at Cecil in Morrow County since 1919. He retired severai years ago and had made his home in Arlington. He was a member of the lone Masonic Lodge and Heppner Elks Iodge. He was director and past president of the Hank of Eastern Oregon, a veteran of the U.S. Army World War I. and a director of the Morrow County grazing service for manv vears. He is survived by his widow. Mabel, of Arlington; a son Kichard Krebs. Cecil: dau ghter. Mrs. Kichard (Sonna) Sherrell. Hermiston: brother. George Krebs. Portland; sisters. Lena Sommerfeldt. Portland and Margaret Hurst. Arlington and four grand children. Memorial services were held Tuesday at the United Methodist Church. Arlington. Hums Mortuary Chapel. Her miston. was in charge of arrangements. Contributions may be made to the Shrine Hospital, or to the Salvation Army. James Vincent Doherty. Pilot Rock, died Saturday night at Pendleton Communi ty Hospital. He was 48. Mr. Doherty was born in Morrow County. He worked in the livestock industry in the Pacific Northwest all his life. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge. American Le gion Post 95 of lone, and a veteran of World War II. Survivors are brothers. Charles of lone. Neil of Salt Lake Citv. Utah. John of Pendleton. Malt of Irrigon and Bill of Auburn. Wa.. and sisters. Mary Doherty of Pendleton. Ann Brandon of Beaverlon. Helen McLaughlin of Salem and Rosemary Peterson of Portland. Funeral sen ices were held Wednesday at St. Patrick's Church, with vault interment at the Masonic Cemetery. Heppner. Burns Mortuary. Pendleton, was in charge of the funeral arrangements. Washington, and Idaho high schools accepted for the 27th annual Pacific University Music in May on May 15. 16. and 17. Miss Schnell will play clari net in the band and the Zicmcrs will sing in the chorus. The participants were sele cted from wt!l over 2.000 applicants. Usually only jun iors and seniors are invited to Music In May. and this year lew juniors were invited. All applicants were rated by their school music directors on the basis of character. attitude, musical talent, cur rent music proficiency, sight reading, performance under stress, and estimated general value to the Music in May group Also noted by the Pacific music staff were other comments from music direc tors and principals, works (X'rlormcd and years of pri vate lessons. Some 210 students will form a band. 1.10 an orchestra, and !." a chorus to perform at the Festival Concert at 8 p.m. May 17 in the Pacific Gym nasium.
