Mrs. Verlin Conner was in The Dulles Friday for medical care. College students home for the Christmas holidays are Theresa Hyatt from Mon mouth, Sara Bowman from Portland and Idee Lorengel from LaGrande. Mrs. Jiggs Bowman and daughter Cindy went to Port land Friday afternoon to see Mr. Bowman, who has been undergoing tests at Emanuel Hospital. He has been re leased from the hospital but has to remain in Portland and is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bowman. Among local folks shopping in The Dalles Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. Bernerd Dyer and family, Mrs. Bob Dyer, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Bell and 8 us at w ww Mm v ) 4 it?-- pf (id family, Mrs. Robert Kelso, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Handle, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Saddler and Mr. and Mrs. Ariel Campbell. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Reid were in Pendleton Satur day for business and shopping. Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Mitch ell and family went to Hermi ston Friday where they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Reid. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Conlee and sons went to Hermiston Friday where they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Wilson and family. The Con lees were also in Pendleton Saturday. Mrs. Howard Rice and Mrs. Lee Bailey were in John Day Saturday on business. Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Canaan of Vancouver, Wn., were weekend guests of their son, Marvin Lucas, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Denzil White were in The Dalles Saturday on business. Mrs. Carlo Wrarming spent Tuesday in The Dalles on business. Mr. and Mrs. Don Cory and daughter Dawn went to Bend Sunday to meet their son, Sgt. Patrick D. Cory, who is home on Christmas leave from his base at Yuma, Ariz. The Kinzua Community Church Sunday School pre sented its annual Christmas program Sunday evening to a full house. The various classes sang, recited poems and put on a short play with the church choir singing between scenes. At the close of the evening, carols were sung by the congregation while sacks of goodies were passed out. The Doubledeck Card Club held its regular meeting Friday with Marilyn Bailey as hostess at her home. High was won by Virginia Sitton, with second high going to Naomi Rice. Pinochles were won by Betty Saddler and Irene Samples. Others playing were Vi Slinkard, Bonnie Campbell and Virginia Kelso. At the close of the evening's play a gift exchange was held. Lexington A group met at the Erda Pieper home last week and spent the afternoon sacking goodies for the Sunday School Christmas treats. Those pres ent to help Mr. Morey and Mrs. Pieper were Florence McMillan and Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Messenger Sr. The Lexington Bridge Club met at the home of Lorine Ledbetter last week for Us regular meeting. Present wrre Juanlta Carmichael, Eileen Padberg, Lois Hunt, Mildred Davidson, Karen Thompson, Lota Tibbies, Elsie Cox and the hostess. Mrs. Padberg won high and Mrs. Cox, second. Mrs. Henry M. Breeding and children of Gresham spent several days last week at the C.C. Jones Ranch. While here she visited her mother-in-law, Lola Breeding, who is a patient in the Good Shepherd Hospital in Hermiston; her mother, Lydia Wilson of Lexington, and other relatives and friends in Heppner. Mrs. Bob Davidson spent the weekend with a daughter, Mrs. Vera Viall. and family in MiltonFreewater. The Christmas program was held at the Lexington Christian Church Sunday morning, and after the pro gram, Christmas treats were distributed. In the evening several members from Lex ington attended the potluck dinner and meeting at the church in Heppner. The Christian Women's Business Meeting was held Tuesday night at the Vert Memorial in Pendleton. At tending from Lexington were Mrs. T.E. Messenger, Mrs. Bill B. Marquardt. Mrs. Carl Marquardt, Mrs. Pat Wright, Vivian McConnell and Faye Green. Jill Padberg of Pendleton spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Padberg. Word was received In Lex ington last week of the death of Mrs. Amelia Goulett of Hermiston, former Spokane resident. She is the mother of Mrs. Mervin Leonard, and had visited in the past in Lexington when her daughter and son-in-law lived here. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Kenneth Klinger to attend the funeral services of her mother, Mrs. Atean Cal vin, were her brother and his wife.
