Kevin McCabe will attend lone High School starting Nov. 25. He will atay with hit father, Alvin McCabe of lone. Mm. Scheelar returned with Mr. and Mn. Gelinat to Caldwell, where the will stay until Chrtitmaa. Captain and Mrs. Kermit Ericksen and daughter. Kim berly Ann. of Fairchild Air Force Base. Spokane, were recent visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Carlson. Mrs Steve Eldridge (Chris McCabe) and children. Mi chael and Dianne. of Wantaga. Long Island. N Y., arrived Nov. 20 to spend a two-week vacation with her family. Mr. and Mrs.Lonnie McCabe. Several college students were home for the Thanks giving holiday. Among them were Christina Lindstrom, Cheri Carlson. Shauna Berg strom. Carley Bergstrom. Joe McElhgott. Mary McElligott, Peter McElligott. Kathleen McElligott. Ann McElligott, Melissa McElligott. Jim Mc Elligott. Earl Pettyjohn. Charlie Pointer. Julie Zinter. Ed Winkleman. John Riet mann. Dick Snider. Kent Gutierrez. Jeri Snow. Gint Krebs and Tom McElligott. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Carlson. Cheri. Phil and Clint, went to Eugene. Nov. 25. There the were joined by their daughter. Sandi. who is working in Eugene. The group attended the OSL'-l'O football game. Cheri is in the OSU marching band. Mr. and Mrs. Adon Hamlett observed their 25th wedding anniversary Nov. 19. They postponed the celebration until Thursday, Nov. 22, when their children, Sharlene of Portland. Richard of Pendle ton, and Tom of lone could be with them. Terri O'Connor of Seattle spent the Thanksgiving holi dav with her parents, Mr. and Mrs Charles O'Connor. Terri and Christina Lindstrom re turned to Seattle Sunday. The Topic Club is spon soring a traveling food sale for the benefit of the library on Dec. 15. On Saturday the'y traveled by bus with members of the Portland Aero Club to attend the OSU-U of 0 football game. They managed to visit with their son. Jim. for a few brief moments. Jim is in the marching band at OSU. He recently returned from a trip to Greece and other European countries. Mr. and Mrs. Quillar Burns of Eagle River. Alaska, spent the holiday in lone visiting with her mother. Mrs. Elmer Griffith, and other family relatives. They were met in Portland Wednesday morning by her sister-in-law. Mrs. George Griffith. Mr. and Mrs. George Grif fith of Cecil had a family gathering for Thanksgiving dinner. Present were Mrs. Frances Mitchell and Char lotte Griffith of Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Quillar Burns of Eagle River, Alaska. Mrs. Fannie Griffith. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lindstrom of lone. Chris tina Lindstrom and Glen Griffith. Mrs. Frances Mitchell of Portland visited her sister, Mrs Fred Hoskms. and fam ily of Heppner. and her niece. Mrs James Boor, and family from Rigby. Idaho, while she was in the area for the holiday. Milton Morgan, president of Western Wheat Associates, recently returned from a week long stay in Washington D C. He was there to confer with delegates from the Foreign Agricultural Service of the U S D A He w as accompanied to Washington by Richard Ba urn Mr. and Mrs Arthur Dal rell. lone, spent Thanksgiving holiday at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr and" Mrs Clyde Crawford. Eugene. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Drobny and son. Wynn. of Eagle Creek joined them Thanksgiving day. Mrs. Drobny is the Daliells' daugh ter. Before going to Eugene, the Daliells stopped tn Reno, Nev. Two 22-pound turkeys were prepared for the meal. Leo Crabtree and Gene Lancaster of Cecil went to Troutdale on Nov. 14 to attend a Masonic meeting of Fair view Lodge No. 92. Ersel Meyers, a close fnend of Leo. conducted the meeting. Al Kader Shrine Club of Portland put on the Master Mason degree. Western Range Association has notified member sheep operators that the U.S. Bureau of Labor will not permit foreign sheepherders to im migrate until special require ments are met. The require ments include that herders living quarters have indoor toilets, hot water showers, and a specified number of square feet for living and sleeping. Mr and Mrs Mark Halvor sen. Alissa and Anjie. and Mr. and Mrs Frank Halvorsen. The Highland United Church of Christ choir from Portland participated in the morning worship service in lone. Nov. 18 The choir, hose members range in age from 9 to 14. is accompanied on the organ by Phennessee Robertson The Rev Allan Wilson, assistant pastor of Highland Church, delivered the morn ing message entitled "I Need Your Love." Women's Fellowship will meet Nov. at the home of Mrs Fred Nelson at 2 p m Mr. and Mrs. Gar Swanson received word Nov. 26 of the death of Irene'! sister. Lena Miller, in Salem. Anyone who wishes, may contribute to the American Cancer Society in Lena's memory. Miss Chris Scott of Portland was a weekend visitor at the home of Mr. and Mrs Roland Bergstrom. Chrts and Shauna Bergstrom returned to OSU on Sunday. Dick Snider went to Port land to watch the Portland Trailblazer basketball game Paul Little from OSU was a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs Dick McElligott over Thanksgiving holidays. Record kept by the retired librarian Mrs. Blanch Brown show that in July 461 books were circulated, August 588. September $90 and last month 496 This month's records show that just over 200 books have been checked out through Nov. 26. It would seem 'hat as books become more expensive to buy that free public libraries would show greater circula tion Some Heppner people have made the library a regu lar stop at least every two eeks--but many don't seem to realize this institution exists Three volunteers have con tributed helping hands this month.
