OF FILING APPLICATION FOR A CH ANGE IN POINT OF DIVERSION OF WATER Notice is given hereby that Gene O Pierre has filed an application for the approval of a change in point of diversion of water from Willow Creek. Certificate of water right issued to James O. Hager and recorded at page 3388. Volume 4, State Record of Water Right Certificates, confirms a right to use of not to exceed 0.08 cubic foot per second of water from Willow Creek, for the irrigation of, among other lands, 2 4 acres in the NE '4 SW i. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Samples went to Portland this weekend to take Irene's mother and sister to Portland Interna tional Airport where they returned to Germany. They had been visiting here for the last six weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Heim and Ericca went to Eugene over the weekend and were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Mannlein. The Camp Five Women's Club met Wednesday with President Pat Van Arsdale in charge. The women discussed plans for a dance in the future. It was also voted to put a "thank you" in the Kinzua Lpg for men helping with the playground. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Don Stanton this weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Doggett and family of Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Conlee and family and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Reid and family went to Hermiston over the weekend. While there they visited Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Wilson and family and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Reid and family. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Vic Wallis and family over the weekend were Jim Fortner and Nina Baker and daughter of Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Mrs. Junior Benson and Mrs. Bill Dyer went to The Dalles Thursday on business. Mrs. Robert Kelso went to Pendleton Wednesday to at tend a meeting of post masters. Visiting Pastor and Mrs. William Mai this weekend were Mr. and Mrs. William L. Shook and family of Myrtle Creek. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Paul Muzzy this weekend was Mrs. Paulette Peterson of Portland. Cheryl returned to Portland with Paulette after a five week stay with her grand parents. Mrs. Lee Asher and Mrs. Guy Van Arsdale went to Portland Friday for dental care. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Guy Van Arsdale this weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Walker and son of Bend. Guy Van Arsdale and Her schel Murdock flew to Rich land, Wash., on business. The vole was 31 for and 12 agninsi the increase of lax for one year of 82 cents per $1,000 valuation. According to Don Adams, repair work is donated by volunteer firemen hut funds were needed lo paint and repair the old fire truck. They answered four fire calls in recent weeks including a mutual aid cull to the Ordnance bombing range, grass fires along the highway west of Irrigon, back of Buchanan's, and another back of Part lows. The Irrigon Rural Fire District includes the area east to the Umatilla County line, south to the Army Ordnance line and west to the Patterson Ferry Road. The three-day Health Fair held in Irrigon was a success, with 165 persons signing the registration book. The volunteer staff of 16 young people interested in health and medicine as a career, packed up their booths and display and moved to Heppner Wednesday after noon to present a Health Fair there for the remainder of the week. Dr. Wagner of Portland was present Tuesday. The booths were concerned with many aspects of good health, such as dental hy giene, respiratory diseases, diabetes, drugs, communic able disease, cancer and others. There were leaflets on each subject, which were given to anyone interested. There were a number of mechanical helps, such as the device to measure lung ca pacity fur air. Another would show plaque on the teeth. One could have blood pressure taken or be tested for anemia or diabetes. The singing couple, Taylor and Taylor, entertained Mon day night, and were accomp anied by the Sunset Purcell on the guitar. They also played a number of instruments, in cluding the mandolin and vibra harp. There was no charge for either the entertainment or the Health Fair as they were funded by the Presbyterian Church and sponsored by local organizations and churches under the guidance of the Oregon State Health Depart ment. Dinner was served to the group each day by a local church; Sunday evening in the basement of the Community Baptist Church, Monday at the Assembly of God parsonage basement, and Tuesday din ner was served by the Altar Society of the Catholic Church at the Vem Evans home. The "Revised Edition," a girls trio from Northwest College, Kirkland, Wa., will present a program of gospel music at the Assembly of God in Irrigon at 7:30 p.m., Fri., July 27. Pastor Robert CLUB MEMBERS TOUR RANCH The Hoof and Horn Live stock Club visited the Palmer Ranch July 15 and were given tips on how to show and shear their sheep. Youngsters representing the club included Pam Cantin, Kitty Bellamy, Jackie and Joe Mollahan. Dick and Lennae Sargent, club leaders and County Extension Agent Mike Howell, his wife and daughter, escorted the youngsters on their tour. Mrs. Ruth Clothier and her sister, Mrs. Genet Mandt of Lincoln City, came to Lone rock for the Emmett Davis funeral services. They are staying on a few days to visit Mrs. Davis, their sister. j July and August j - 8 years j Schmnll extends a welcome lo all. Young people of the Irrigon Assembly of God have been attending the camp near I'rairie City during the last two weeks. The teen camp was during the week of July 9-13, and those attending from Irrigon were tala Smith. Joe and Rimie Mesteth. The 9 lo 13-year group attended the week of July 16 20. and included Roger and Robert Radabuh, Charles Sta cy, Lerry Wilson, Timmy Griffin, and Eugene Stacy. Mrs. Floyd Mesteth attend ed both weeks as counselor lo the youth, and brought them home in the station wagon. Pastor Robert Schmoll drove the Sunday School bus over the first week, taking some young people from neighbor-' ing communities, but had motor trouble that prevented the use of the bus for the next trip. The Assembly of God Sun day School is planning a picnic for Aug. 4. with Vacation Bible School during the week of Aug. 6-10. Mr. and Mrs. John Brandt spent several days vacation ing in The Dalles, Hood River area, during the past week. They attended some of the Babe Ruth and Little League ball games in the tournaments going on at the time. Visitors at the homes of Lola Breeding and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Smith in early July were relatives from Abingdon, Va., Mr. and Mrs. Joe Branson. Mrs. Breeding trav eled with them to Yellowstone National Park during the second week of July, returning to her home on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Isom have returned from a vacation trip n Tumalo State Park and Paulina Lake, south of Bend. They also spent several days on the Metolius River and at Sherman State Park. Mr. and Mrs. Don Eppen bach spent the weekend in the Yakima Valley. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Sweeney visited members - of their family in Weed, Ca., including Carol, Frances and Carl Wiley. Columbia Little League Ma jor All-Stars participated on the sub-district tournament in The Dalles last week. They lost to Jefferson and Willow Creek, but the boys had a good time and enjoyed getting acquainted with boys from other towns. Those chosen all-stars form the Columbia league were Jay Sullivan, Sam Griffin, Dale Brandt of Irrigon, Deeno Leighton of Boardman, Bryan Galbreath, Guy Journot of Umatilla, Tad Weatherall, Ted Proctor, Steve Hensell, Arlington, Larry Holman, Donal Sampson, Charles Ber ry, Jerry Ruth of Echo and Jeff of Stanfield. Van Winkle, Friday morning. Mrs. Van Winkle makes her home at Hiersche's Nursing Home in Pendleton and was visiting in Lexington and Heppner for a week. Those attending were Mrs. Marion Palmer of lone, Mrs. Elmer Palmer of Eight Mile, Mrs. Dee Cox Jr. of Heppner.; Mrs. Frank Robinson, Mrs. Florence McMillan, Mrs. Wayne Papineau, Mrs. Ken neth Peck, Mrs. Vernon Mun kers, Mrs. Archie Munkers, Mrs. Mel Allyn, Mrs. Catie Padberg, Mrs. C.C. Jones. Mrs. Elsie Fox and Mrs.' Van Winkle's daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth DuVall, and son from Chicago, 111. Enroute to Lexington from their home in Texas, the Campbells visited a daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Mlynarczyk, in Los Angeles, and a son, William, in Portland. Both families of Campbells drove to Grand Forks, B.C., where they visited Roy Camp bell's sister, Mrs. Will Crowell, and to Chelan, Wa. where they visited Mrs. Roy Campbell's brother and, fam ily, Mr. and Mrs. I.H. Severence. Mrs. Gregory Mlynarczyk of Los Angeles visited over night recently with her grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Campbell. She is the former Laura Campbell, and spent several years of her childrood in Lexington where her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Don Campbell, were engaged in farming. Mr. and Mrs. Manning and family, lone, are living in the 4 F7 This vehicle, southbound on II wy. 207 Saturday evening, ran off the road and into a ditch near the llaguewood Ranch, Heppner Hills. At the car was either towed or pushed from the ditch. It caught fire and burned. The exact cause of the bluir is unknown at this time, and the accident U still under investigation. Zumwalt house. Mrs. Lloyd Otzenberger of Stanfield and Mrs. Al Frost of Hei inislon were callers Fri day afternoon at the C.C. Jones home, A family get-together of the children and grandchildren of Mrs. Cleo Van Winkle was held Sunday at the Jack Van Winkle cabin in the moun tains. Those coming from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Van Winkle and daugh ter of Spokane, Mrs. Jeanette Klinger and sons, and Thomp son Sunceri of Portland, Glenda Kay Van Winkle of Salem, Margaret Green of Portland, Mr. and Mrs. Lawerence Green, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Van Winkle and daughter of Pendleton, Billy Van Winkle of Hermiston and Mr. and Mrs. DuVall and son of Chicago. There were 41 present to enjoy the dinner and afternoon of visiting. Anita Davison is employed part time at the Heppner Auto Parts in Heppner. Mr. Majeske is a patient in Pioneer Memorial Hospital. Full Gospel Fellowship International Business Men's meeting will be held at the Hermiston football stadium, Thursday evening at 9:30 p.m. The public is invited.
