will be held at the county
courthouse at Heppner, Ore
gon, on September 11, 1973, at

proposed change, if any there

and place. Any and all
objections shall be prepared in
writing, one copy to be served
on Gene O. Pierce, Box 36,
Heppner, Oregon, 97836, and
one copy filed with the State
Engineer, Salem, Oregon, to
gether with a $5.00 filing fee,
at least 10 days prior to the
date set for hearing. If no
objections are filed, the appli
cation may be approved by the
State Engineer without a
hearing. Administrative rules

District election Monday, 43
voters turned out to pass the
request for additional funds
for repair and replacement of
equipment.
The vole was 31 for and 12
agninsi the increase of lax for
one year of 82 cents per $1,000
valuation.
According to Don Adams,
repair work is donated by
volunteer firemen hut funds

repair the old fire truck.
They answered four fire
calls in recent weeks including
a mutual aid cull to the
Ordnance bombing range,
grass fires along the highway
west of Irrigon, back of
Buchanan's, and another back
of Part lows.
The Irrigon Rural Fire
District includes the area east
to the Umatilla County line,
south to the Army Ordnance
line and west to the Patterson
Ferry Road.
The three-day Health Fair
held in Irrigon was a success,
with 165 persons signing the
registration book.
The volunteer staff of 16
young people interested in
health and medicine as a
career, packed up their booths
and display and moved to
Heppner Wednesday after
noon to present a Health Fair
there for the remainder of the
week.
Dr. Wagner of Portland was
present Tuesday.
The booths were concerned
with many aspects of good
health, such as dental hy
giene, respiratory diseases,
diabetes, drugs, communic
able disease, cancer and
others. There were leaflets on
each subject, which were
given to anyone interested.
There were a number of
mechanical helps, such as the
device to measure lung ca
pacity fur air. Another would
show plaque on the teeth. One
could have blood pressure
taken or be tested for anemia
or diabetes.
The singing couple, Taylor
and Taylor, entertained Mon
day night, and were accomp
anied by the Sunset Purcell on
the guitar. They also played a
number of instruments, in
cluding the mandolin and
vibra harp.
There was no charge for
either the entertainment or
the Health Fair as they were
funded by the Presbyterian
Church and sponsored by local
organizations and churches
under the guidance of the
Oregon State Health Depart
ment. Dinner was served to the
group each day by a local
church; Sunday evening in the
basement of the Community
Baptist Church, Monday at the
Assembly of God parsonage
basement, and Tuesday din
ner was served by the Altar
Society of the Catholic Church
at the Vem Evans home.
The "Revised Edition," a
girls trio from Northwest
College, Kirkland, Wa., will
present a program of gospel
music at the Assembly of God
in Irrigon at 7:30 p.m., Fri.,

The Hoof and Horn Live
stock Club visited the Palmer
Ranch July 15 and were given
tips on how to show and shear
their sheep.
Youngsters representing the
club included Pam Cantin,

Mollahan. Dick and Lennae
Sargent, club leaders and
County Extension Agent Mike
Howell, his wife and daughter,
escorted the youngsters on
their tour.
Mrs. Ruth Clothier and her
sister, Mrs. Genet Mandt of
Lincoln City, came to Lone
rock for the Emmett Davis
funeral services. They are
staying on a few days to visit
Mrs. Davis, their sister.

This vehicle, southbound on II wy. 207 Saturday evening, ran
off the road and into a ditch near the llaguewood Ranch,
Heppner Hills. At the car was either towed or pushed from
the ditch. It caught fire and burned. The exact cause of the
bluir is unknown at this time, and the accident U still under
investigation.
