Mrs. Lewis Halvorsen returned home Saturday from visiting her son, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Hal vorsen and family in La Grande for a few days. The Office Tavern will close for Thanksgiving, Nov. 25. Mr. Del Larue will hold bas ketball practice and lessons ev ery Saturday morning at the high school gym from 10-12 a.m. for boys grades 1-5. They will play at some Junior Var sity halftime basketball games. GAA installation will be held Wednesday, Dec. 1 for all girls grades 9-12 and thei rmothers from 2:30 to 3:30 in the high school cafeteria. Jerry Carney to Speak Thursday, Dec. 2, there will be a National School Assembly at the grade and high school. Jerry Carney will be the speaker. Mr. Duncan of Duncan Stud ios in Baker will be at the lone High School to take winter sports, class and organization pictures and pictures of stu-! dents that were absent when! individual pictures were taken. In lone It's Pool Carnation Club Elects, Plans Jim Carr of the Willow Creek Cabinet Shop, in lone, likes to make things. He had quite an area in the back of the store that he wasn't using. Some of the kids asked him . . . "Why don t you put in a pool hall? So he did. He put in three pool tables, an ice cream freezer and pop machine. He keeps adding things. He plans to install an electric oven to cook frozen pizza, sandwiches and other snacks. "The Pool Hall" is open to .both boys, and girls from 3:30 until 9 p.m. every evening. There is a student in charge from 3:30 to 6 and Mrs. Carr after 6 o'clock. Mr. Carr contin ues working in his cabinet rhop, sometimes with the door shut and sometimes open. Kids shoot pool for 25c a game. Occasionally there's an adult who drifts in to play. No rough talk is allowed and he says to the kids, "If you're going to drink, I don't want your money. The Carr children are gone. Jim is in Clackamas Commun ity College. Two daughters at tend high schools in Portland. Janice, a sophomore at Mar-t-'hall was recently voted "Freshman of the Year". Air. Carr is justly proud of his skills and will show off with pride whatever piece of furni ture or cabinet ho is working on. He refinishes old and anti que furniture.
