Oregon Farmers to Be Visited in Livestock And Wheat Survey A representative sample of Oregon farmers will Im visited between Nov. 22 and Dec. 3 a part of the U. S. Department of Agriculture's nationwide etium erailve survey program. Leonard W. Orvold. Statistic ian in Charge of the Oregon Crop and Livestock Reporting Service said the survey will be conducted in all states, except Hawaii and Alaska, to gather Information about cattle and hogs, chickens, and wheat acre age. Those farmers contacted by the locally-hired enumerators are a cross-section of the Na tion's producers. Their reports provide USDA with valuable ma terial for estimates on agricul ture. All information on individual farms Is kept confidential. The winter wheat acreage In formation will be issued Doc. 22; the hogs and pigs inventory Dee. 22; the poultry inventory Jan. IS; and the cattle invent ory ten. 4. USDA conducts two major enumcrative surveys yearly. The June program involves more than 50,000 farmers oper ating in about 17,000 scientific ally selected land segments, na tionally. The number of seg ments in a State varies from about 2.30 to over 1,000. There are 350 in this state involving 1,000 farmers, Mr. Orvold stat ed.
