They met their oldest son, Gary and family. On July 15, Mr. and Mrs. Jones entertained in honor of their son, Eay, who was leaving for his new Job at John Day. Pres ent for the event were Mr. and Mrs. Mark Murray, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Jones and Mark Brown and Mike Bunch. Mrs. Sadie Parrish recently had some visitors here with her. Les has Ran Technidan on ukiah District lor 9 years. Teacher Announces BOARDMAN Mr. and Mrs. Vic Marchek are the parents of a son, Jeffrey Drew, born July 1fi at thi Pendleton Community Hospital. The baby weighed 8 lb., 12 oz. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Louis Marchek of Har per, and Jim Shelly of Hermis ton. Great grandparents are Mrs. Ethel Swanson of Harper, and Roscoe M. Haley of Caliente, Calif. It seems about the time that Jeff arrived, the Marchek's St. Bernard had a litter of 13 pups under their house! Greenfield Grange Has Picnic Members of Greenfield Grange held their annual picnic Sunday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Seehafer. There were 33 present. Special guests Included Mr. and Mrs. Bill Weatherford of Heppner, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Coe and daughter Melissa of Redmond, Larry How ell of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Highley and sons Matt and Mike, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Warnock and Harry Brown. After the picnic the Women's Activity Committee of the grange held a short business meeting. The next meeting of the la dies group will be Aug. 12 at the home of Mrs. Chub Warren, and the next meeting of the grange will be at the hall Aug. 15 at 7:30 p.m. TUIlcnm Club Meets The Boardman Tillicum Club met last week at the home of Mrs. Tom Hilling with Mrs. Del mer Hug as co-hostess. Guests were Mrs. Bill Nelson and Del- 7 Sir feu Arrival Of A Son oris Hilling. The latter gave a report on her trip to 4-H Sum mer School. Plans were made for the dance to be held Saturday night for Princess Vivian Phillips at Heppner. ; Mrs. Vernon Russell was ap pointed to assist Mrs. Roy Part low, librarian, in setting up rules governing the care of books taken out by children. The next meeting will be Aug. 11. Hostesses will be Mrs. Jerry Meyer and Mrs. Bill Bates. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Harper and children Carol Ann and Donald have returned from a four-weeks trip visiting relatives in Mich igan, Illinois and Indiana. They visited Mr. Harper's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Harper, at Miles, Mich., and helped them rpiphrate their 50th weddine an niversary. Relatives from eight states attended the affair. They visited his cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Don Swartzlander, at Michigan City, Ind., and Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam Conrad at La Porte, Ind. They then visited his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Harper, at Sylvan Lake, attended a baseball game be tween the Chicago Cubs and the Til and while there thev all Philadelphia Phillies, which the Cubs won 2-0. Grand High to Doris Stubblefield The regular pinochle club par ty was held last Monday night at the Camp 5 hall with Glenna Rollis as hostess. Hich and pi nochle went to Sharon Bell with low and pinochle to Terry Todd. Others playing were Carol Thomas, Carol Norris, Rose Hardwick, Rose Merry Nelson, Sue Mattison, Cindi weaser, Bet ty Murdock, Deena Reid, and Bonnie Camrjbell. Grand high for the series went to Doris Stubblefield and second high to Betty Murdock. Mrs. Frank DeMeritt and Mrs. Earl Norris were in Heppner Tuesday of last week where Eva had medical care. The Friendship Club held their regular card party on Wednes dav evening at the school house with Carol Norris as hostess. High went to Sue Mattison, sec ond high to Dinah Jackson, ana ninochles to Roberta Conlee and Dinah Jackson. Prize for exact middle score went to Cindi Weaser. Others playing were Bpttv Murdock. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Hollomon and daughters of Hermiston spent the weekend visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Denzil White and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Todd. He was released on Thursday. Mrs. Dean Wimer ana R.evin took Mr. Wimer to Hermiston last Monday where he entered Good Shepherd Hospital for medical care. He was released on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Sharp went to Pendleton and Walla Walla over the weekend on bus iness and then to Weston to vis it the Homer Grogans. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Allen of John Day spent Sunday visiting With Mr. and Mrs. Don Hard wick and family. Earl Norris went to Pendleton Sunday where he picked up Er nie Wall who had flewn his plane for its annual inspection. Visit Victoria Mrs. Robert Kelso and Mrs. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mel Boyer were Mrs. DeBraal and her three sons, Eric, Mark, and Wade, of Eu gene. They arriveod Friday to visit with Mrs. Boyer who is Mrs. DeBraal's sister, Mrs. DeBraal left Tuesday with her youngest son, leaving the two older boys at the Boyer home for a longer stay. Howard Day. of Hermiston. will continue gathering, cloth ing, food, and household items for the Navajo Indians of Ari zona until Sept. 1. They still need all kinds of items, espec ially food and toys. Mrs. Lois Winchester has already packed 200 boxes for him to take down. These items were donated by local people and their generos ity will be greatly appreciated hw ta roinlpnts. Mrs. Winchest er would also like to have emp ty baby food jars, wnicn sne jh filling with homemade Jam to send to the Navajo Indians.
