She has been working with some of the neighborhood children, and on Saturday evening, July 25, they presented a stage show to the tune of "Chltty, Chltty Bang-Bang" In Aldrlch's back yard to about 25 parents and friends. of Mrs. Charles McElllgott Portland, and Mr. and Mrs, Jerry McElllgott and family of Sacramento, Calif., are visiting at the homes of Mr. and Mrs, Don McElllgott and Mr. and Mrs. Dick McElllgott. MLss Teena Stefani, and Den nis Stefanl are visiting In Eu gene at the home of their bro ther, Jerry Stefani and family. Shower Honors Bonnie A bridal shower was held in honor of Mrs. Robert (Bonnie) Ball, Saturday afternoon, Aug. 1 at the lone Masonic Hall. Assisting Bonnie in opening the gifts were Janet Palmateer, Sharlnne Hnmlett, and Patti Crawford. Kimmy, Kelly and Christy Pettyjohn, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Paul PettyJJohn Jr., helped pass the gifts around to the guests. The tea table was decorated with a large white sheet cake, with pink wedding bells and flowers and flanked by a floral arrangement of pink and white, and pink candles. Mrs. Donald Ball presided at the punch bowl and Mrs. Lloyd Morgan served the coffee and tea. Hostesses for the shower were mothers of the graduating class of "69" and were: Mrs. Ted Palmateer, Mrs. Berl Akers, Mrs. Art Stefani, Jr., Mrs. Eldon Tuck er, Mrs. Bill Snow, Mrs. James Pettyjohn, Mrs. Al Marick, Mrs. Lewis Halvorsen, Mrs. Alfred Nelson, Mrs. Dick' McElligott, Mrs. Wm. Nichols, Mrs. Garland Swanson and Mrs. Adon Ham- lett. Mr. and Mrs. Charles O'Con nor, and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Yarnell of Madras recently re turned from a week's vacation spent In Reno, Virginia City and visiting points of interest along the way. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Nelson, Jr., spent July 26 at Lyons, at tending the 37th annual reun ion of the Neal-Trash-Chrisman families held at the John Neal Park. Others known In this area attending were Mrs. Alfred Nel son, Sr., Mrs. Clara Sloanecker, and Miss Freida Mason. Attend Little League Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Bristow drove to Lincoln City Wednes day, to watch the Little League br. Division Mate Tournament held on Thursday. Kevin Bris tow, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Bristow played on the Meadow land team from Portland. Kevin Is one of the pitchers, and also plays shortstop and his team placed 1st place winning by a score or iu to u. They will pro- ceea to Madras to participate in me Northwest Division tourna ' ment on Wednesday, and will compete against the winning team rrom Idaho, Washington, ana Hawaii. Mr. and Mrs. FA Bristow returned home Sunday nnu sioppea in Portland to at tend the Morrow County Picnic. They reported the attendance was comparatively small accord ing to previous years. Mr. and Mrs. Charles O'Con nor spent the weekend In As toria visiting their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Onyon. Terrl O'Connor re turned home Sunday after spending a week at camp, lo cated at Cove. Miss Kimmy Pettyjohn, dau ghter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pet tyjohn, Jr., was honored with a party on her 9th birthday, July 5 at ner nome. Guests were Ar linda Aldrich, Kimmy Cofenas Michelle Connor, Kathy Klncald Tammy Tucker, Jeff and Craig Hams, and Kris and Kelly Petty John. Slim Emert's daughter, Mrs, Mary Hammond and children arrived from Portland Sunday evening to be with him while he Is in the hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Tom White (Ter esa Tucker) and daughter are moving Into the Ralph Crum res idence located on the upper end of second street. Mrs. Cleo Drake is a patient in St. Anthony Hospital in Pen dleton, having undergone sur gery Monday morning. Band Practice Aug. 17 j Mr. Darrell James would like to announce that band practice will begin Aug. 17 at 7:00 p.m., in order to get ready to march the Morrow County parade. All 8th grade and high school students are requested to turn out for the practice, and get their uniforms. Both events are open to the public, j Home Ec demonstrations will be given on Thursday, Aug. 27, starting at 9:00 a.m. in the An nex Building at the fairgrounds. Many do not understand that an audience is actually needed for demonstrations. Demonstra tions, or an oral and visual pre sentation by the member, are Intended to be done under ob servation! This Is one way 4-H encourages growth of poise and confidence in members. Last year a record number of girls presented demonstrations. Thank you, Mrs. Hamlett, Kinzua Boy Gashes Forehead KINZUA Jimmy Williams, three year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Williams, fell off the front porch Thursday afternoon cutting a deep gash in his fore head. He was taken to Condon where five stitches were taken to close the wound. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Seabrandt of Spokane, formerly of Kinzua, visited with friends here this past week. Mrs. John Jackson and Mrs. Dan Bell were business visitors to The Dalles last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Rice and family went to Portland Friday evening to take ! Miss Audrey Potts to fly to her home at Strong City, Kan. Miss Potts had been visiting the Rice's since early Juno. Mrs. Delbert Barzee went to Bend Thursday to bring home her daughter Joyce who had been visiting with Mr. and Mrs, Paul Oyler. Don Oyler also came to Kinzua to visit until the weekend when his parents came alter mm. Jiggs Bowman and son Vic were business visitors to Port. and Tuesday where Jiees had medical care. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Muzzv and Mrs. Terry Feterson and daugh ter Cheryl were business visit ors to Madras on Saturday. Ag Demonstrations Are Tuesday All demonstrations bv live stock, horse, and other agricul ture related 4-H club member subjects will be given outdoors at the fairgrounds on Tuesday, aug. starting at 3:30 p.m. Audiences will be appreciated at all demonstrations! Here is the opportunity to see boys and girls developing communication with others, poise, and self con fidence, as they show some of tne varied skills they have acq uired in their 4-H program. Demonstrations must relate to projects carried by 4-H member. everyone who is to have an entry in the parade, please tell Randy Peterson. Entries so far are the Main Street Cowboys ana the Calliope, the Happy Canyon Princess and the Pen dleton Round Up Queen and Court. Floats so far include a Joint venture of the Heppner and Lexington Christian Churches: Soroptimist Club and the Jay- cees and Wives. There is something about their department stores that seems terribly impersonal and not conducive to buying. The same with their grocery stores. Shoppers in our stores are being tempted all the time to buy things they don't need. GET READY FOR FAIR Snack Shack A new look is rapidly becom ing apparent at Morrow Countv xairgrounas. t irst improvement to meet the public eye is a new permanent concession stand re placing the 4-H Snack Shack. Working together for the much needed improvement were the Morrow County Fair Board and South Morrow 4-H Leaders Council. Four-H parents will onerate the concession during three days of the fair, and on 4-H Horse Show day, Aug. 16. Call the Uunty Extension Office 676 9642 to sign up to do your share! The days are so busy and seem to fly. At the station we met our families. Ute came and handed me some flowers. In fact, every family brought flow ers for their American. The ride home was a bit difficult be cause I could think of nothing to say. Inge was at home. La ter when Herr Schabo came, he gave me a bouquet of pink and white carnations. It was so nice. They have a garden In back of their house and a small pool, into which Herr Schabo ls going to put fish next year. I have a room to myself ad- Joining a larger room where Ute and Inge sleep. We went for a short walk the night I arrived, around the block. Treibweg Is a long, narrow street. The houses are nice and fairly new. Next door is an apartment building and down the street are several built within the last ten years. We watched "Mannix", which was quite interesting in uer man, but luckily for me, I had seen the program before. Satur day, the 4th, we toured the Moers castle. It is small, but nice. Then, we walked around the park, and were going to feed the ducks, but Ute forgot the bread. We were with Ute's boyfriend and a neighbor boy, and they kept talking too fast for me to understand. It is very depressing, because you don't want to interrupt and make them repeat about four times, yet you really want to know what is going on. That night we went to several discoteks. One was In Krefeld, quite far away. They play English and Ameri can songs mostly, and they play them loud.
