Mrs. Crawford Honored By Grange IONE Installation of officers was held on Jan. 18 at Willows Grange for the following offi cers: Steward, Willard French; Asst. Steward. Lee Palmer; Chaplain, Irene Dalzell; Treas urer. Mary Lindsay; Gate Keep er; Art Dalzell; Ceres, Genieva Palmer; Pomona, Lorrene Mont gomery; Flora, Carmen French; L.A.S., Mary Ann Palmer; Ex Comm., Marian Palmer and Lee Palmer. Despite the snow and Icy road conditions all the officers were present for their Installation. In stalling officers were: Bert Ak ers, Installing Officer; Mrs. Lew is Halvorsen, Installing Marsh al, Mrs. Bryce Keene and Lee Palmer, Installing Emblem Bearers. Following the Installation ceremonies, Mr. and Mrs. Wate Crawford were honored In be half of Mrs. Crawford's 24 con tinuous years of service in the station of Chaplain. Mrs. Lee Palmer and twin daughters, Debbie and Donna and Marion Palmer accompanied on the pi ano by Barbara Palmer sang, "Callaway Bay" in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Crawford. Refreshments of cake, coffee and punch were served from a lovely tea table In the social room of the grange in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Crawford. Mrs. Willard French had made and decorated the cake in honor of the occasion. Mrs. Franklin Lindstrom is a patient at Good Samaritan Hos pital in Portland, following sur gery on Friday. Tim and Mark Tullis, students at Lewis and Clark College and Portland Community College spent the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Garry Tullis. Mrs. Milton Morgan was hon ored on her birthday Friday with a coffee hour at the home of Mrs. Roy W. Lindstrom. Eleven ladies enjoyed visiting and re freshments. Women's Fellowship Meets Women's Fellowship will meet at the home of Mrs. Roy W. Lind strom on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 9:45 a.m. Mrs. Gordon Myers will be the co-hostess. Scott Crabtree was a weekend visitor at the home of his grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Crab tree. A correction on the accident of Laura Marick: Laura slipped and fell on the icy steps at her home on Saturday injuring her WAC met at the home of Mrs James Lindsay on Thursday of last week. Mrs. Earl McCabe and Mrs. Mike Cotter were co hostesses. Fifteen members were present for the all day meeting. Members of Willows Grange have held work days at the hall for cleaning and remodeling of the restrooms. Mrs. James Honored Mrs. Darrell James was hon ored at a pink and blue shower at the Gar Swanson home on Monday evening. Mrs. Gene Dockter assisted in opening the gifts. Twenty-four guests were present. Hostesses for the party were Mrs. Garland Swanson, Mrs. Roy W. Lindstrom, Mrs. Adon Hamlett and Mrs. Lindsay Kin caid. lone Garden Club met on Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Clell Rea. Hostesses were Mrs. Rea and Mrs. Carmen French. Roll call was to show a pic ture of the named variety ot chosen flowers. Each member has chosen a flower for the year and at various times gives in formation concerning their cho sen flower. Program for the day was on Craft Paper Mache flowers. The members fixed and arranged vases and the mache flowers for gifts to present to the Pioneer Memorial Hospital Geratic Ward. The Garden Clubs next meet ing will be held on Feb. 11 at 10 a.m. at the Willows Grange. This will be an open meeting with a potluck dinner at noon. Anyone interested is invited to attend. In the afternoon, Tom Zinn, Gilliam County Agent, will give a demonstration on pruning. 'Trim it Back" is the title of his demonstration, which will take the assembled members and guests to various homes, where Mr. Zinn will show how to prune fruit and shade trees, shrubs and various other techniques. Pedro tournament winners this past week included: High Millie Evans and Rollo Craw ford and other winners were Dale and Gordon White; Mr. and Mrs. Don Heliker; and Mr. and Mrs. Darrell McLaughlin. Steve Lindstrom Home Third Class Petty Officer, Stephen R. Lindstrom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy W. Lindstrom, is home on leave following five weeks of military indoctrination as part of the Navy a Direct Pro curement of Petty Officers pro grams. P03 Lindstrom, desig nated an equipment operator in the SeaBees, will report to Port Hueneme, Calif., in late Jan uary for further SeaBee training, weapons training with the Mar ines, and deployment to South Vietnam in mid-April. Susan Lindstrom, a student at EOC at La Grande was home over the weekend for a visit with her family. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis McKay had their infant daughter baptized on Sunday at St. Wil liam's Church in lone, by Fath er Raymond Beard. Mr. and Mrs. Garland Swanson were God parents. Following the ceremo nies, Mr. and Mrs. Swanson and Father Beard were guests at the McKay home for breakfast. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Dockter were hosts for a New Year's Eve party at their home. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Art Stefani, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Bob Peterson were guests. Also visiting during the evening were Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Wilson and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Holtz. Rainbow Order of girls regu lar meeting scheduled for Tues day, Jan. 20, has been postponed until Tuesday, Jan. 27, due to weather conditions and illness. Hynd) 29 Women's Fellowship (Lindstrom's) Thurs January 22, 1970 Mrs. Cornelison Buried at Lexington Lulu Merle Cornelison, years of age, died at Pioneer Memorial Hospital Jan. 18, af ter a short illness. She was born Jan. 4, 1898 at Walnut Grove, Minn., daughter of Victor M. Way and Bertha Aldrich. She was a 21-vear resident of leg insieaa or iamng at ine Lexington and operated the Lex church. The young miss is still ' jngton Cafe from 1949 to 1963. 72 Edwards, Elden Padberg, Cecil Jones, Joe Yocom, Howard Keith ley, Delbert Piper. Honorary bearers were Adolph Majeske, Oris Padberg, Orville Cutsforth, Sr. and C. C. Carmichael. Sweeney Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Contri butions may be made to the Heart Fund. confined at home. Remodeling Mr. and Mrs. Elby Akers are in the process of remodeling at their home. The Akers family is having a Franklin fireplace installed in their home. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Crum are also in the process of doing some remodeling in their ranch home. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Havorsen were hosts for a pancake sup per at their home on Saturday evening. Members of the grange gathered for the supper and to audit the granges' books for the year. Guests present included, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Palmer, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Palmer and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Keene and family, Mary Lindsay and Mr. and Mrs. Berl Akers. She was a member of Holly Re bekah Lodge No. 139 and a member of the Seventh-day Ad ventist Church. She is survived by June Field and Zelma McDaniel, both niec es of Heppner and Marvin Way, a nephew of Lexington. Services were held Wednes day, Jan. 21, 1970 at the Lex ington Christian Church at 2 p.m. with Elder H. E. Preston of the Heppner Seventh-day Ad ventist Church officiating. Carl and Rick Marquardt sang "How Great Thou Art" and "The City Four Square" accompanied by Mrs. Carl Marquardt. Concluding services were at the Lexington Cemetery with ritualistic servic es by Holly Rebekah Lodge. Active bearers were Johnny j Rev. Don Johnson was ill the past week. He was unable to fill the pulpit at the First Christian Church Sunday morning.
