The first session was held at Irrlgon Thursday evening and the sec ond one at Lexington on Satur day afternoon. He urged leaders to be diplomatic in aejegaung work, to be always available for answering questions, be respon 6ible for training leadership by selecting good committee chair men ,be an organizer and be op en minded. He listed the steps for conducting a meeting from the opening to adjournment Following his talk, Gail Me Carty, 4-H and Youth Develope ment Agent, told how First Nat lonal shows their Interest In 4-H ers. They supply the 4-H member pins in the state of Oregon, 4-H Summer School scholarships, and aid with the Fat Stock Sale at the County Fair, often buying an ani mal. Secretary tips were given by DuAnn Mc Carty, clerk for the Morrow County School District. She stressed correct spelling and urged the 4-H secretarys to make use of their dictionary when In the slightest doubt. Go to the meet Jng prepared with pencil and pa per. The secretary records tne business of the club accurately and completely. Mr. MeCarty recalled how the school shows Interest in 4-H by supplying meeting room free, furnishing the bus to 4-H sum mer school and also for the 8th grade tour. News Reporting Mrs. Charles Heard of the Ga zette-Times reviewed the man ual for 4-H Club reporters. She asked that reporters start with the most interesting thing done at the meeting and include the Big Six, Who, What, Where, When Why, and How. Make it brief, write clearly or every other line and very soon after the meeting. Mr. MeCarty reminded the group of the special 4-H edition put out last fall by the Gazette Times and willingness to print 4-H news when ever possible. Eligible producers may sign up at tne uouniy Agniunurai Stabilization and Conservation Service Office, Heppner, during program explanations were sent in the fall of 1969 to be eligi ble producers following the an nouncement of 1970 program provisions for that crop. Participants who comply with program provisions are eligible for price support loans and pay ments on their feed grain and wheat crops. Wheat allotment notices and Wranglers Directors Make Plans for 1970 A sergeant was instructing some new recruits. The board of directors of the Wranclers riding club met Thursday evening and discuss ed a wide variety of items per tainine to the clubs' activities for 1970. Among business matters dis cussed were changing from meeting each month to every other month, concessions for the college rodeo, play day schedules, repair and cleaning of building and grounds, the horse show and membership. These items will be brought to the members at the next reg ular meetinc to be held Feb. 2 at the dorm building. The club invites anyone in terested in joining the club to contact the secretary, Alice Vance, or any other officer and to attend and participate in the meetings and activities. Dues are $5.00 per year for family membership and $3.00 for sing le members and are payable now for 1970. President Beverly Steagall conducted the meeting and all directors were present except Bill Healy, who was unable to attend. I In Morrow County 258 farms with 62.238 base acres of corn and barley are eligible for par ticipation in the feed grain pro gram. There are 284 farms with wheat allotment acres totaling 91.651.7.
