gXzette-times Thunk, Januarr 22. 1970 Mustangs to Enterprise By JOHN HARRIS Four-2 is the record of the Heppner Mustangs and they are currently 1-0 In league play. They scampered to a 77-64 win over the Pilot Rock Rockets and a Saturday night game at De Sales In Walla Wa:ia was post poned to Jan. 31 because of adverse weather. This weekend pits the Mus tangs against an up and com ing Enterprise team. In their, first encounter against the Sav ages, the Mustangs defeated them 67-51. This was the Horsemen's second outing of the current season. In that contest the Enterprise cause was aided by Dave Storm, who scored 15 points and Jim Pace who flip ped in 10 counters. In a Tuesday night game the Mustangs matched wits with the Blue Mountain Community Coach Clough says of Enter-, prise, "They sure haven't lived up to my predictions of earlier In the season that they would be the team in the Greater Ore- j gon League to beat." He adds,' "They might still come along," i nd oesslmlstlcally he says, "It may be this Friday night." Two on U of O Honor Roll A total of 1,059 students at the University of Oregon made grade point averages of 3.5 or higher, during fall term 1969, qualifying them for the honor j roll. Federal Census Takers Wanted About 20 applicants for census work in Morrow county will be required to take the federal 1970 census according to word receiv ed by the U. S. census om to Mrs. Herman Winter. She says enumerators will earn $60 to $100 per week and be reim bursed 9c per mile for use of an automobile when required. Each applicant will be notified of the time and place to report for an interview and test. Pass ing the test Is mandatory. Since all areas within the county must be covered, appli cants will be needed throughout the county. Housewives are en couraged to apply. The work will run from three to five weeks. Since census takers must be In terviewed, tested, selected and trained rjrior to April 1. the list of applicants must be forwarded to the district manager not la ter than Feb. 1. I lie Timber Wolves traveled to Hepp ner last Tuesday night to dump the fighting Mustangs 62-43. The killer for the Mustangs was the shooting from the field where they shot only 35 to the Timber Wolves' 45. The Wolves also shot 48 from the gift line. The Mustangs were only able to out score BMCC in the fourth quarter and in all of the oth er quarters the Mustangs were out scored by at least five points. The Frosh and Grant Union also played Tuesday night in Heppner. Grant Union had to go into a single overtime to down the Frosh 58-54. Mrs. Gonty In Hospital Mrs. Ed Gonty suffered a stroke last Thursday afternoon and has been in Pioneer Mem erial Hospital. She was sitting up on Tuesday morning al though still getting some head aches. She can have company. Auxiliary Donates To March of Dimes Following a Joint pot luck supper with the American Leg ion, the Auxiliary met for a chnrt meeting.! They voted a donation to the March of Dimes and voted to Durchase two boa spreads for the Nursing Home at Pioneer Memorial Hospital. Bowl Down for March of Dimes The Scotch Doubles Bowling Tournament at the Fiesta Bowl will be a March of Dimes bene fit on Saturday night, Jan. 31. Handicapped, take league aver age. Non league bowlers can es tablish handicap that night. Teams will have two bowlers, two women or a man and wom an, but two men can't bowl to gether. Sam Is donating the use of the alley and all proceeds will go to the March of Dimes.
