October 16. 1969 lone Students Select Officers For School Term By LORRAINE BALL IONE Two lone students, Kristin Nelson and Joy Beggs, were chosen recently as lone High school representatives on the Morrow County Juvenile Ad visory Committee. Each high school In the county has chos en two representatives to this hoard. lone High school classes have elected their officers for the 1969 1970 school year as follows: Freshman: class president, Kathleen McElligott; vlce presi dent. Melissa McElligott; secretary-treasurer, Cindy Ekstrom; student council representative, Jerry Pettyjohn, and concession chairman, Christina Llndstrom. Sophomore: class president, Mary McElligott; vice-president, Wendy Christopherson; secretary-treasurer, Toni Justus; stu dent council representative, Cheri Carlson, and concession chairman, Jackie Howton. The ladies were house guests at the home of Mrs. Pettyjohn's sis ter. Blanch Ward, of Kuna. The Arlington Rodeo Court which consists of Queen Mari anne Pettyjohn, Jeri Krebs and Cathy Dill attended the Junior Rodeo at Hilltop Arena in Ruf us on Saturday night and Sun day afternoon. Marianne won the barrel race and placed in the steer dobbing. Miss Jeri Krebs assisted by her mother, Mrs. Dick Krebs, was hostess for a slumber party on Friday evening, October 10, in honor of Marsha Ball's 17th birthday. The senior class girls and Barbara Boyce of Heppner, a former classmate, were quests,. A "hamburger buffet and "Tee cream and birthday cake were served. The party motif center ed around the "Snoopy" crea tion. Mrs. Krebs made the cake in the shape of Snoopy and the party decor and favors were carried out in the same theme. At the October 7 American Legion Auxiliary meeting at the Legion Hall, it was announced the gifts for Veterans hospital were due by November 4. Plans were also formed for a public spaghetti dinner to be held at the hall on November 11. Mem bers draped the charter in mem ory of Mrs. Omar Rietmann. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Morgan returned home on Monday fol lowing a trip to Great Falls, Mont., where Morgan attended meetings at the Holiday Inn in conjunction with his Director of Western Wheat Associates po sition. The Morgans visited with an aunt of Mrs. Morgan's Mrs. George Crawford, at Great Falls. They also visited with Mr. and Mr. and rMs. Jerry Crawford at Fort Benton. Sewing Club Starts Year of Activities The Nimble Thimble Stitchers 41! club met at the home of their leader. Mrs. Judy Wright, on October 8, after school. New officers were elected. They are Krlstl Haguewood, president; Sandra Palmer, vice president; Sally Sumner, secretary-treasurer, and Nola Steers, news reporter. Books and records were given to the members. At the next meeting second year members are to bring ma terials for making a laundry bag. Fourth year members are going to make either a blouse with sleeves or a housecoat with sleeves nad are to have their materials and patterns. The next meeting will be November 12 after school. Interment Held Here For Laura C. Morgan Graveside services for Mrs. Laura Clark Morgan, about 80, of Hillsboro. were held Monday, October 13, at 4:30 p.m. at Hepp-ner- Mason ie -cemetery .--Fuwra 1 was held that morning at 10 a.m. at Hillsboro. Mrs. Morgan was a native of Heppner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Clark.
