Young, Lodge No. 2 attended the Degree of Honor convention held April 24 25 in Portland at the Cosmopol itan Motor Hotel. Preparations are being made for inspection on May 14, at which time Mrs. Bertha Chisolm, state president; Mrs. Grace Hy att, past state president; and Mrs. Rita Rose, recently elected second vice president, will at tend. Entertainment will feature the lone ktchen band and a western theme will be used throughout the meeting. Frank, traveled to Sa lem on April 23 for ceremonies that honored her as an Oregun Merit Mother of l'.Ha. Attending the morning brunch at the Mar Ion Hotel were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lindstrom. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. John Eu banks. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Crab tree. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Munk ers, Mrs. Larry Prock and Lori, Mrs. llershal Townend and Mrs. Omar Rietmann. Rainbow girls attending the morning activities were Kuthy Cannon, I limy Em trom, and Nancy Ashurst. The afternoon presentations were made bv Gov. Tom Mc- Call at 2:00 in the State Capi tol building to Mrs. llaivorsen and seven other women, Other relatives and friends who were able to attend in the afternoon were Mr. and Mrs. Henry llaivor sen. Medford; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Slender. Mrs. Raymond Hoffman. Mrs. Max Muller, Mrs. Blanche Scheelar and Mrs. Don Scheelar, all of Salem. Mrs. Gene Rietmann was sur prised with a baby shower on Wednesday evening, April 24, held at the home of Mrs. Bill Rietmann. Two tables of bridge and one table of pinochle were in plav with prizes won given to the honoree. Mrs. Ray Boyce served refreshments, following cards, to the following guests: Mrs. Bob Jepsen, Mrs. Herb Eks trom, Mrs. Gene Hall, Mrs. Bob Rietmann, Mrs. Pete Cannon, Mrs. Arnie Hedman, Mrs. Art Lindstrom, and Mrs. Larry Fetsth. Two lone girls, Janet Palma teer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Palmateer, and Jodi Snow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Snow, will be princesses on the Arlington Rodeo court serving with Queen Donna Mikkalo this week-end, May 4 and 5. Prin cess Janet will ride her quar terhorse, "Flicka," as she rep resents the lone 4-H Horse club. Princess Jodi represents the Gil liam county 4-H Horseflies and will ride her quarte r h o r s e, "Fawn." Mr. and Mrs. Chad Shaw of Junction City were week-end guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Crabtree. Mr. and Mrs. Don Peterson and family were recent visitors in Portland at the home of Mrs. Peterson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Hanson. Members of the lone Junior High Baseball team surprised Dick Snider with a birthday cake on his 13th birthday last Thursday after their ball game with Echo which they won 5 to 3. Other members of the ball team this year ore Herb Eks- from, Richard llamlett, Clint Krebs, John Rietmann. Jerry Pettyjohn, Eddie Wlnkleman, Stewart Ke&sler, Mark Rietmann, Freddie Sherman and Paul Ash urst. Jerry Martin is the coach of the team. Lee O'Connor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles O'Connor, fiew to Tucson, Ariz., this week a a delegate from the University of Oregon to the Model United Nations held on the University of Arizona campus. Universities from el:ht western states par ticlpnted in the event. Miss O'. Connor was also able to do some sightseeing In Mexico be fore she returned home on Sun day. Bob Jepsen has been chosen to represent the Oregon Wheat Growers League as a member of the Board of Directors of the Wheat and Wheat Foods foun dation. Jepsen is in Chicago this week attending meetings of the Foundation. He also will visit with his brother-in-law and sis ter, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wood in cnicago. Mrs. Amanda Warfield Is cur rently receiving treatment at the Pendleton Community hospital. Susan Baker arrived home by airplane on April 14 from Kaneahe, Oahu, for a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Baker. Susan, who has been working as a secretary there for the past year, plans to enter the University of Hawaii In the fall. Traveling with Miss Baker was Lcianna Hapu who greatly enjoyed her first visit to the mainland. Mrs. Alice A. Stockard, moth er of James Stockard of Butter Creek and Mrs. Patricia Klncaid, died Sunday evening at St. An thony hospital in Pendleton, following a long illness. The Hummels were former lone residents. Mrs. Rar Drake and her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Drake of Kenne wick, Wash., recently returned from Stockton. Calif., where they visited Donald Drake and turn- ilv. A niece. Mrs. Chuck Ingram, and family of New Almaden Air Force Base drove to Stockton to visit them.
