Order of the Eastern Star, to attend a reception for Mrs. Dick (Virginia) Wilkinson In the multipurpose room of iieppntr High school Saturday evening, April i, More than 235 lodge members and friends payed tribute to Mrs. Wilkinson, who holds the office of Grand Ruth of the Grand Chapter of Oregon. a gay, western theme was used in decorations throughout me reception room, with color ful rodeo and cowboy scenes decorating the walls. Adding to the atmosphere were arrange ments 01 sagebrush in bloom, anea grasses and cattails in front of the rostrum and about the room. On the gift table were glided boots and an arrange ment of gilded grasses. Each guest received a pin-on feutur ing tne Wilkinson ranch "brand' in the corner. Guests were extended a warm welcome by Worthy Matron Winifred Cox. Worthy Patron Paul Jones followed with the in vocation and led in the flag ceremony. Mrs. Elbrldge Woodard, wor thy grand matron, and Gordon Barker, worthy grand patron, were escorted to the East and accorded grand honors. Accord ed the same honors were Mrs. P. Robinson, past grand matron and grand lecturer; Mrs. Laur ose Hibberd, Mrs. Walter Jaeger, and Mrs. Ernest Jones, Jr., all past grand matrons, and Paul Sorenson, past grand patron. VIRGINIA WILKINSON tune of "Old MacDonald Had a Farm", she was given a ride in a simulated tractor, ending with a gift presentation from the Eastern Oregon Association. Jim Schaffitz and Ken Baker sang two selections which were well received. Words of congratulation were extended bv Mrs. Woodard and Mr. Barker, grand matron and patron, to Ruth Chapter for the enjoyable reception and to Mrs. Wilkinson for excellent work ngntea candies, lormed a cross, Knelt and sang "Come to Rain bow With Me". Sara Miller sang a selection, "Willow creek Val ley", accompanied by her moth er. After Mrs. Wilkinson was es corted to her place of honor, she presented the following grand of ficers: Mrs. Lee Nelson, associ ate grand matron; Leo V. Brown, associate grand patron; Mrs. El bert Miller, grand secretary: Mrs. Clarence Bateman, grand treasurer; Mrs. Clarence Field grand conductress; Mrs. Grace Ewing, associate grand conduct ress; Mrs. Donald Tweith, grand chaplain; Mrs. Elmer Hevland grand marshal; Leonard Will iams, grand organist; Mrs. Her man Waske, grand Adah; Mrs. Robert Mackay, grand Esther; Airs, uordon Earner, grand Mar tha; Mrs. Lawrence Jordan, grand electa; Mrs. Kobert Har per, grand warder, and Ted Roadman, grand sentinel Also introduced were nine grand committee members, five grand representatives, 14 worthy matrons ana nine worthy pat rons.- Mrs. Pauline Miller sang the selection, "Hills of Home" for Mrs. Wilkinson's special pleas ure, accompanied by Mrs. Juan ita Carmichael. Dick Wilkinson presented the 14 grand escorts in attendance. A cleverly arranged adden dum by the host Ruth Chapter honored Mrs. Wilkinson. To the der. Other distinguished guests spoKe briefly. Gratitude was expressed by Mrs. wiiKinson to an who nad worked and participated and to those who traveled distances to add to her pleasure. Family members present and introduc ed were Mrs. Wavel Wilkinson. Mrs. Shirley Rugg, Jody and Jill, and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Paine. She acknowledged past matrons and past patrons of Ruth Chap ter and its members, closing wun an appropriate poem. Refreshments were served at tables covered with red table cloths In true Western motif. A coal bucket, filled with golden wheat was the centerpiece, with miniature farm equipment and animals adding atmosphere, Punch was served from old fash ioned crocks and coffee from old fashioned coffee pots, General chairman was Mrs, Inez Huffman, assisted bv Mrs, Howard Bryant, Mrs. Carmichael and Mrs. Wavel Wilkinson, Chairman of the social hour was Mrs. L. D. Tibbies, assisted bv Mrs. Koy uuackenbush. Mr. and Mrs. Alan Brown and children Mark. LeAnn. Tad and Kenny, Eugene, visited from Friday through Sunday at the home of her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Privett, and with her brother and sister-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. John Privett and Kim. lone Rainbow Girls Honored at Reception Two members of lono Rain bow Assembly No. 89 were hon ored by friends and relatives at reception Sunday afternoon. April 21, at the lone Masonic hall. Bonnie Kae Akers holds the state office of grand conflden tial observer, and Terrle O'Con nor Is serving as grand choir member. Guests attending from out of town included members of Rain bow Assemblies and Eastern Mar chapters from Arlington. Condon, Seaside, Hermiston ana Heppner, and of the Order of DeMolay, Hermiston. Among honored guests intro duced were Grand Deputies Mrs. Lorraine Irby and Mrs. Florence Van Gaasbeck; Janet Hanan, grand lecturer of Arlington As sembly No. 79; Vickie Romine, grand representative to North Carolina of Condon Assembly No. 42; Kathy Wade, worthy ad visor of Condon Assembly: Mrs. Jean Reed, mother advisor, Con don Assembly; and Mrs. Adelyn tnsworth. mother advisor of Maple Assembly No. 30, Seaside. Others introduced were Bovd Thomas, Sr., dad advisor, and Boyd Thomas, Jr., master coun selor of DeMolay In Hermiston; Mrs. Nancy Ekstrom, worthy matron of Locust Chapter No. 119, and Berl Akers, worshipful master of lone Lodge No. 120. AF&AM, and Mrs. Ruby Beckett, past grand deputy to the Inter national Order of Rainbow for Girls, Heppner. Entertainment was provided by Diane Hough and Marilyn Sarpola, who sang two selec tions from "Sound of Music", accompanied by Dona Oliver, all members of Maple Assem bly No. 30, Seaside. "My Girl" and "Come Back When You Grow Up" were sung by Teresa Tucker, Connie Emert, Neal Christopherson and Chuck Nel son of lone. Dick Snyder of the DeMolay chapter presented -iower Talk' as a tribute to mothers. lone Assembly presented an addenda in honor of Miss Akers and Miss O'Connor, entitled "Friendship's Rainbow," after which each girl was presented a gift. Bonnie then presented the Assembly with a Rainbow flag, of the traditional colors. After the closing "Circle of Friendship," refreshments were served. Heppner Unit Plans Meeting Next Week Regular meeting of HcDnner extension unit nas been ad- vanced to Tuesday, May 7. at 11:30 a.m. at the home of Mrs. Ray Drake. The hostess will fur nish the meat dish and hrearls for the potluck luncheon. Meeting date was advanced one week to avoid conflict with the annual Homemaker's Festi val, which will be held Mav 15.
