Susan Lindstrom spent a mid term break at her parental heme this week-end from her summer school work at Oregon State University. She rode up with school friends, Gayle Bat ty and Karen McCurdy of Hepp rier. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Matthews and four grandsons were recent guests of his brother, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Matthews and family. They were enroute home to P.oseburg from a trip to Yel lowstone National Park. Attend Legion Convention Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Tucker have returned from a week's vacation trip. They were dele gates to the American Legion and Legion Auxiliary Conven tions in Eugene from July 13 to 15. While in Eugene, they were the guests of Mrs. Tucker's sis ter, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Turner and family. The Turner's son, Monte recently broke both bones in his leg in a swimming acci dent. The Tuckers also took their daughter, Tanya, to Camp Adams near Mollala, for a week at Junior High church camp, and visited at Salem and Can by before returning home. Week-end guests of the Harold Beggs family were Mr. and Mrs. Russell Ricket and family of Beaverton and Mrs. Wally Brown and family. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Harr of ; was accompanied to lone ny ! Mrs. Kessler's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stewart of Walla Walla, who returned home with him on Sunday. Mrs. Edythe White slipped on I the kitchen floor of her home last week and fell, receiving a the head, which stitches. :susan Gonty of Richland is a guest this week of her friend, Cindy Ekstrom. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Ekstrom. Jr. and family attended the hydroplane races on Sunday and brought Susan home with them. Attending junior camp at Lu thercrest Camp near Tollgnte this week are Chen Carlson and i Herbert Ekstrom 111. Last week Jan Ekstrom, Teena Stefani, Donna Flack. Chervle Hams, and i Phill Carlson attended the jun ior camp. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sherer have as their guests this week ' their daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Peck and daughter of Portland were week end guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Morgan. Mr. and Mrs. Arnie Hedman were in Seattle from Monday to Wednesday of last week to attend the Furniture Mart They stayed one night with Mrs. Hed man's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Belmore in Tacoma. Eugene Sawyer of Pendleton was a Lexington visitor on Sun day. Miss Joan Patrick of Portland visited the week-end at the Dean Hunt home. Callers at the C. C. Jones home this week were Mr. and Mrs. Mike Griffith and three children of The Dalles, Mr. and Mrs. El bert Bristow of Osborne, Idaho, and Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Miller of La Grande. O. W. Cutsforth spent some time this week in Newport where he was called by the ill ness of his sister. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Davidson and children are spending some I time in Portland where they are visiting relatives. I Mrs. Willam J. VanWinkle and Mrs. William C. VanWinkle were Pendleton visitors this week. Friends were shocked to hear of the death of Harold VanHorn in Hermiston last week. Mr. and Mrs. VanHorn were former Lex ington residents where they were employed by Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Palmer on the Creek ranch. Mrs. Edna Munkers and Mrs. Cleo VanWinkle spent the week end at the Munkers trailer in the mountains. Vern Viall, who is employed in Seattle, spent the week end here with his family. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Willi ams spent the past week in Ida ho visiting friends and relatives. Mrs. Morris McCarl and child ren have returned home after a visit with relatives in the Wil lamette Valley. Mrs. Floyd (Irene) Graham, HEC District 3 chairman, visited at the C. C. Jones home last Thursday. She and her son Gor don were enroute to Pennsylva nia where her son will start a summer training session with Fred Waring and his band. Mrs. A, F. Majeske is visiting in Portland this week. Marine Cpl. Frank Robinson is spending three weeks at the nome of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Robinson, before re porting to Whidbey Island where he will be stationed. Cpl. Robinson has just returned from duty with the US forces in Viet nam. Leora VanWinkle, who is sta tioned in Central Valley, Calif., with the VISTA program, writes that she is tutoring on Head Start VISTA work in the valley. The girls are working with the low income families and are af filiated with the California Wel fare Department. She finds this work most interesting, but quite different than the work she was in in Alaska. Joyce and George Peck of Pen dleton visited last Thursday in Lexington and lone. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Longgood of Yakima, Wn., spent the week end at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Al Fetsch. They recently attended the Calgary Stampede where Longgood plac ed third in the first go-around in calf roping. Mrs. Natalie Rauch returned home last Tuesday from Toledo. She was brought home by Mrs. John Hartman, with whom she had been visiting.
