In view of the severe weather con ditions at this time, the parents were paricularly concerned about their safe arrival. Club Has Dinner Meeting on December 12 was the Rhea Creek Livestock 4-H club. The club met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Raw lins for the annual dinner and Christmas party. After the din and sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. ner there was a short meeting of the club. Those present at the party were Mr. and Mrs. Hall, Mr. and Mrs. Harris, Mr. and Mrs. Rawlins, and the ma jority of the club members. Thomas A. Trailer Ordinance Upheld Irrlgon Council met last Tues day evening and voted unani mnnsiv tn uDhold the trailer or dinance which provides that trailers within the city limits must be narked in the trailer court, unless parked on land owned by occupant of the trail er. The council renewed pack age beer licenses to the Com plete Food Grocery store and Clark's One-Stop Grocery store. The council accepted a letter of resignation from Attorney Wil liam Belt, who is moving to Sa lem. A new attorney has not yet been selected. A street report covering a 5-year development program was approved. Mrs. Beulah Pummel of Port land spent the Christmas holi days with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Pummel, Anita, Donna Kay and Darrel. Sunday afternoon tney were all dinner guests of Mrs. Beulah Pummel's son-in-law and daugther, Mr. and Mrs, Obern Standerfer of Hermiston. Mrs. Perry Pummel attended an Avon Christmas party and sales meeting at Pendleton last Monday. The luncheon ana meeting were at the Tapadera banquet room. A3C Allyn Hobbs, who re cently completed schooling at Sheppard Air Force Base, Wich ita Falls, Texas, is home on leave with his folks, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hobbs and family. Hobbs will be stationed at Mathers Air Force Base near Sacramento. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Jorgen sen spent Saturday in Spokane, Wash Mrs. J. W. Bunnell of Clarks ton. Wash., is visiting her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Don Estes and family. Mr. and Mrs. David Bryant of Kinzua are parents of a daugh ter, Elizabeth Colleen, born Sun day, December 26. Her birth weight was 9 lb., 1 oz. She joins a family of five other children, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Gamroth of Hillsboro became parents of a first child, a daughter, on Sun day, December 26. The young miss weighed 6 lb., 8 oz., and has been named Sherri Lynn. Mrs. Amanda Duvall had as her guests for the three-day Christmas holidays her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Waid and their son. Jim; her granddaughter, Miss Lois Wickersham, and her cousin and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Les ter Tubbs, all of Portland. Her nephew and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Waid of Ukiah, joined the group as dinner guests on Christmas Day. Cole, 2694. Father Critical In Hospital Here Stanley Dixon, father of the Rev. Melvin Dixon, was reported to be in critical conditon and sinking in the Pioneer Memorial hospital Wednesday night. He has been bedridden in the nurs ing home at the hospital for the past 24 years, having suffered a paralytic stroke prior to his confinement. Mr. Dixon is 78 years of age. Arriving lost Wednesday for several days visit here with rel atives were Mr. and Mrs. Herb Case of Poulsbo, Wn. They en Joyed the Christmas holidays visiting in the home of her mother, Mrs. Jessie Griffin, and also in the Forrest and Archie Burkenbine homes. Mr. and Mrs. Wes Sherman and family enjoyed Christmas dinner at Stayton Saturday af ternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Samek and family. The Sameks are parents of the Shermans' daughter-in-law, Mrs. Richard Sherman, of Salem. On Sunday, the Heppner family went to Forest Grove to have another Christmas family gathering with Wes Shermans mother, Mrs. Harry Sherman, Sr., and his bro ther and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Sherman, Jr., and family. Some of the group also went to Reedville to visit anoth er brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Sherman. - On the trip Mrs. Sherman also renewed a lifelong friendship with Mrs. Kathryn Middle brook, . now of Stayton. The two attended col lege together at Linfield in Mc Minnville and were sorority sis ters there. Joining the Shermans at forest Grove was another lifelong family friend, George Barkley of Tracy, Calif- who expects to come to Heppner to day (Thursday) for a New Years visit with the Wes Shermans.
