President Fred Gimbel repre sented the Heppner-M o r r o w county Chamber of Commerce at the meeting. Others in atten dance were from Bend, Redmond, Burns, Harney county and Trine ville. Bob Smith of Burns, newlv elected state representative from tne zwn district, acted as chair man of the meeting. It was decided that not enough wore present to complete for mation of the organization, and another attempt will be made at a later date. One of the prin cipal objects of the organiza tion would be to consider legis lative matters of interest to East ern Oregon and to businessmen. Letters expressing inte rest have come from most chambers of commerce in Eastern Oregon except from Klamath Falls and Pendleton, Gimbel said. Monument By MARTHA MATTESON MONUMENT Guests for Christmas at the Ed Round home were Mr, and Mrs. Melvin Round and two sons of Idanha, and Mr, and Mrs. Ford Sloan and children, Andy, Michael and Linda. Mr. and Mrs. Alva Wright of Fox were dinner guests Sunday at the home of his sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Rounds. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Matteson of Heppner spent Saturday visit ing triends and relatives in Mon ument and Spray, waiter Williams drove to Port land last week-end and brought Miss Ruth Stussi home from col lege for the holidays. Mr. and Mrs, Stanley Boyer and her mother. Edna Moore, drove to Portland last week to attend the funeral services there of Mrs. Moore's mother. Jessie Scott visited in Pen dleton and Pilot Rock four days last week. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Round and sons, Donald and Ronald of Idanha spent the week-end and Christmas holidays at the home of nis parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Round. Mr. and Mrs. Robert K. King man of Sacramento, Calif., left Monday morning after spending eight days with Mrs. Kingman's parents, Mr. and Mrs, Elmer Matteson, with a brother, Dale Matteson of Milton-Freewater and a sister and family, Mrs. Harry Scott. The Kingmans will stop in Alturas, Calif., to visit another brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Matteson. On December 20, Frank Elder, Boyd Hinton, Maney Neal and Allot Fleming were on Dry Creek between Kimberly and Monu ment, blasted into a snake don and killed 40 rattlesnakes, of all sizes. Lewis Neal and Frank Elder drove to Pendleton recently where Mr. Elder joined his sis ter. Mrs. Maree Huehes and con- tinuod on to Ontario to spend Christmas week with their brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mis. Bill Elder. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Martin drove to Prlneville, December 19 where tk.ey met their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Williams and two children who came from Air Force Base at Sacramento, Calif., for the holi days. Mrs. Dottie Smith drove to John Day Monday. She brought Joe Whitaker home from the hos pital where he had been for three days. Mr. and Mrs. Buster Mann of Brightwood came last Thursday to take Mr. and Mrs. Lynn For rest to Portland where Mr. For rest entered the Veteran's hos pital after he had been a pat ient in the John Day hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Abe Gates and two daughters of Chico, Calif., came December 22 to spend the holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Leathers and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Holmes were in Portland recently to see their new granddaughter, born recently to Mr. and Mrs. Larry Holmes. The Maids and Matrons of Monument club held its Christ mas party December 20 In the Legion hall, with 16 women, 10 men and six children present.
