January 3. 1963 Boardman Folks Entertain Guests During Holidays By MARY LEE MARLOW BOARDMAN Clyde Tannehill was elected for a three year term as director of the Boardman Cemetery Association at the an nual election last Thursday. Beverly Donovan, who is spending the holidays here at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Donovan, from Salem, showed picture slides one night last week at fhe grange hall of her two months tour of 14 countries in Europe last sum mer. Most of the slides were taken by her. Holiday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Hoffman were Mrs. Hoffman's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Dahl and sons Steven and Ronnie of Cooperstown, N. Dak., and her brother and sister-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. David Ad- lard and children Penny and Terrv of La Grande. Mr. and Mrs. Dewey West and children Larry and Dewena went to Toledo Friday to visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey West, Sr. Holiday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hayes included their daughter, Mrs. Margaret Beall and daughter I'atty of Eugene, their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hayes and daughter Darla of Arlington; Mrs. Hayes' brother-in-law and sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Al Lovgren of Heppner, and Mr. and Mrs. Louis LeTrace of Echo; her niece, Barbara Le Trace of Portland, and Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Hayes and four children. Mrs. Zearl Gillespie was honored on the occasion of her birthday during the holidays when a group of menus surpris ed her with a party. Present were Mrs. Claud Coats, Mrs. Florence Root, Mrs. Louise Earwood, Mrs. Cecil Hamilton, Mrs. Nathan Thorpe and Mrs. Frank Marlow- Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Black and daughter Diane returned home last Thursday from Wallowa where they spent Christmas at the home of Mrs. Black's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Crawford Oveson. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Tannehill spent the holidays in La Grande at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Tannehill. Mr. and Mrs. E. O. McKenzie and children Tamara and Buddy of Minot, N. Dak. were here a week to look alter their trailer court. They were Christmas din ner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Ferguson. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Brown re turned home from Kennewick, Wash, last Thursday where they spent the holidays at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Woolcutt. Holiday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Eades were their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Eades and daughters Cindy and Denice of Portland, and Eades' brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Rich ard Eades, and his mother, Mrs. R. A. Eades, all of Hood River. The latter were on their way to spend Christmas at Pasco, Wash. Mrs. Tom Pace and daughters Nancy and Janice, and Mrs. Clyde Jenkins of La Grande visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Bedord last Friday on their way home from Port land. Mr. anil Mrs. Gene Allen and children Staelo and Stuart of Seattle, Wash, have returned to their home alter visiting at tne home of Allen's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Allen. They all spent Christmas at the home of Mrs. Gene Allen's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. War ren McConnell, in llenniston, and also went to Granger, Wash, to visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Allen. Christinas visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Agee were Mis. Agoe's son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Yan cey and son Ronnie of Portland. Visitors at the home of Mrs. Florence Root were her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs Vernon Root and children Curtis, Maurice and Jane of Wasco, anil her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Max Deweese of Grandvlew, Wash. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Lilly and children Jimmio, Janet, Jay. Jerry anil Joyce of La Grande were overnight visitors Christ mas at the homo of Mrs. Lilly's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Ely. They all spent Christmas in Kennewick, Wash, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Newell Vaught. Gull and Kelly Vaught returned here to spend the holidays and Janet Lilly also remained for the week. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Skoubo were Skoubo's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Skoubo and children David and Janell of Corvallis, and his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Russell DeMauro and three children of The Dalles. Christmas visitors at the home of Mrs. Bob Miller were her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Phillips and daugh ter Robbie of The Dalles; her brother-in-law and sister, Mr, and Mrs. Carl Gaede of Gresham, and her cousin. Lois Miles of Mllwaukle. Robbie Phillips re mained here to spend the week. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Plereey and George Schatz of Portland visited Sunday at the home' of Mr. and Mrs. Rollin Bishop. Linda, Billie and Bobbie De vine of Willowdale visited the past week at the home of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Baker. Mrs. Effie Miller is visiting at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr- and Mrs. Ralph Baker, in Corbett. Pat Miller accompanied Paula Williams of Irrigon to Seattle, Wash, to spend the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Zearl Gillespie have both been confined to their home with bad colds. Christmas visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Marlow included Marlow's brother-i n law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Shipp of Pendleton, his nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Ransier and children Kevin and Kim of Medford; and Mr. and Mrs, Douglas Califf and child ren Brian, Suzanne and Linda of Troutdale, Wash. The Knutty Knitters 4-H Club met at the home of their leader, Mrs. Joe Tatone. The club is planning a used book sale, and will store their material in the city hall. Menus for Riverside Hi g h School and Boardman Grade school for the week of Jan. 7-11 are as follows: Monday baked meat loaf, glazed sweet potatoes, salad, biscuits and fruit; Tues daystew and rools, salad and gingerbread with whipped cream; Wednesday ham b u r gers, buttered corn, jello vege table salad and pudding; Thurs dayroast beef and gravy, boil ed potatoes, asparagus, rolls and fruit; Friday tuna noodle cas serole, buttered beets, raisin bread and pears. All meals ser ved with milk, bread and butter. PINE CITY PINE CITY The Pine City Pinochle club held a party and dinner Saturday evening at the school. A delicious ham potluck dinner was served by hosts and hostesses, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Ash beck and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Le Trace. Seven tables of cards were in play. Mrs. Marian Finch and Gaylord Madison won high; Mrs. Eva Harland and W i 1 1 a r d French, low. Mr. Ashbeck and Mrs. Greer won the pinochle prize. Bert Barnes of Prineville was a guest of the Marian Finches during the holidays. bammy Myers, son ot Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Myers, celebrated his third birthday with a party Fri day afternoon. Guests were Mrs. Bob Kasari and Brent; Mrs. Charlie Daly and Tim, David and Jo Lynn; Mrs. Chuck Myers, Wicki and Lee Ann; great-grand mother, Mrs. Phoebe Barthol omew; grandmothers, Mrs. Jas per Myers and Mrs. Walt Schu- ler ot Woodburn, who had been visiting the Myers from Thurs day until Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schwab and family of Portland visited their daughter and family. Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Myers during the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Myers en tertained their family for dinner Sunday. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Carren and family of Echco; Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Myers and family; Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Myers and family and Mrs. Phoebe Bartholomew. Mr- and Mrs. Willard French and family spent Christmas Day at the Tracy Porter home in Pilot Rock. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Burris and family of Portland visited over the holiday week-end at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Burl Wattenburger. Mrs. Burl Wattenburger is caring for her sister, Mrs. Floyd Van Orsdalo, who is seriously ill at Pendleton Community hospi tal, Pendleton. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Ashbeek and family were dinner buests at the Carl Rhea home Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. George Luclani and family were dinner guests of Mrs. Marian Hibbard and Geor gie in Pendleton the same dav. Mrs. Ted Burns of Newborg and Mr. and Mrs. John Harrison of Portland visited at the George Curran home this week. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Ashbeck and family spent two days at the Harold Kirk ham home at Cove over the New Year's holiday. Mr. and Mrs. Marian Finch went by train to Seattle where they visited his sister who is seriously ill. They were gone several days. Mr. and Mrs. Carey Hastings and Mrs. Frank Connor spent Christmas day with Mr. and Mrs. Roger Connor and family in Forest Grove. Mrs. Connor also visited the Wendell Connor fam ily there. Mr. Urbano attributes this sud den rise to the Alien Address Report Program. Forms for making the reports will be available to aliens at all Post Offices and offices of the Immigration and Naturali zation Service during the month of January.
