Memorial Day Mishap Shakes Up Two Men The only Memorial Day al dent reported In the Heppner area occurred at 1:30 a. tn. when Richard Bailey. 21. went to sleep at the wheel f a r.r and over turned. The car left the road and turned over on Its side, shaking up the driver and Injuring his ribs when he hit the steering wheel. He was admitted to Pioneer Memorial hospital and released at 11:30 a. m. Kenneth Bailey was not hurt. Both men returned to Rich land that afternoon. Richard Ballov Is the grand son of Mr. and Mrs. N. D. Bailey, Heppner, and Kenneth Bailey Is their son. Grand parents are Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam P. Davis, Santa Maria, Calif., and Mr .and Mrs. Arthur Miller of Round Lake, 111. Great grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hewitt or Chicago, 111. The baby weighed nine pounds, eight ounces. The county extension unit held its last meeting for this year at the home of Mrs. W. G. Sechafer last week. Mrs. Scehafer and Mrs. G. C. Deits gave demonstra tion on a "Low Calorie Lunch eon," serving a meal with only 520 calories, consisting of a chrimn salad, cottace cheese dip with vegetables, rye krisp and ice cream with blueberry top ping. The next meeting will be held In September. Patty Miller, 15-y e a r o 1 d daughter of Mrs. Russell Miller, escaped serious injuries last week when she fell from her horse while riding. She was ta ken to the Good Shepherd hos pital in Hermiston, where she was treated and released after staying there overnight. She re mained in bed several days at home. Mrs. Orville Gaston of Sand point, Idaho, visited last week at the homes of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Myron Watts, and her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Daniels. Wednesday Mrs. Watts, Mrs. Daniels and Mrs. Gaston went to Baker to visit at the home of Mrs. Watt's son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Mack. Mrs. Don Satchell and Mrs. Jeanlne Sather and son John of Maupln visited last Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Satchell's uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Marlow.
