HEPPNER GAZETTE-TIMES, Thursday, November 19, 1959 Copper Tooling Class Very Well Attended The Hoppner extension unit's cooper tooling class was held last Tuesday, November 10 at the 4-H annex with a large group of people taking part un der the instruction of Mrs Riley Munkers, Mrs Bill Heath, Mrs Ray Drake and Mrs Gene Fer guson. Those taking part in the class were Mesdames Edna Turner, Pete McMurtry, Joe Wright, Frank Connor, Myron Rill, Har old Becket, Lowell Gribble, Allen Case, Ralph Richmond, Alex Green, Doug Drake, Lee Scrivner, Howard Pettyjohn, C R McDow ell, Tom Wells, Art Watkins, W W Weatherford and Miss Leta Humphreys. They each selected one of the two pictures available and learned step by step from the tracing of the picture onto the copper through the embossing process, adding the picture, and finally putting on the "dope" to keep the copper from tar nishing. For those who wish to make the companion picture, the cop per may be purchased at the home extension office. The next Heppner extension meeting will also be an all day meeting, starting at 10:30 a m, i December 8 at the home of Mrs Howard Pettyjohn, on the sub ject of Holiday Breads. The pro ject leaders will be Mrs Frank Wilkinson, Mrs Keith Blake and Mrs Pettyjohn, who will give the demonstrations. The officers voted to attend joint installation of all county officers some time in December at Lexington, date to be announ ced later. The meeting started at 6:30 p m with potluck supper. Paul Partlow, 78, pioneer res ident here who farms in the west end of the project, escaped ser ious injury in a fall from a hay stack at his home during the hard wind storm here Wednes day of last week. He was taken to St. Anthony's hospital in Pen dleton where it was determined no bones were broken, and ex cept for being bruised and sha ken up, he had no serious in juries. After remaining in the hospital over night he returned to his home Thursday. Mrs Ronald Haas was hostess for the Tillicum Club Tuesday night of last week at her home. Mrs Charles Higuera was a guest. Mrs Joe Tatone, state 3rd vice president, sent a bulletin cover ing junior club activities in the state and the general Federation, and the projects the juniors Will be participating in during the 1959-60 club year. Mrs Ralph Skoubo reported on the Hallowe'en party given for grade school children. A discussion was held about giving a Christmas donation to the Veteran's Hospital In Walla Walla, Wash. He received his discharge last week after four years of service. Mr and Mrs Darrell Marlow went to Union Saturday' to visit at the home of Marlow's brother and sister-in-law, Mr and Mrs Harold Marlow. The club will be hostess for the annual Mystery Sister Party at the hall on the afternoon of Dec 16. Mr and Mrs Elvin Ely and daughter Eileen spent Veteran's Day in La Grande visiting at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr and Mrs Eldon Lil ly. Mrs Louise Earwood and daughter Shirley spent the day at Arlington visiting at the home of her brother and sister, Mr and Mrs Rudolph Steinke. Mr and Mrs Ed Kuhn spent last week in Boise, Idaho visiting Kuhn's nephew, Mr and Mrs Kenneth Kuhn. The two ladles are sisters. The Boardman Cemetery Maintenance Association will hold a meeting at the grange hall Monday, Nov 23 at 7:30 p m for the nomination of one board member for three years, j Mr and Mrs Cecil Hamilton spent four days in Bellingham, Wash visiting relatives. Mrs Florence Root was a week end visitor at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr and Mrs Vernon Root, in Wasco.
