Social Reporter MR AND MRS C N FIFTIETH WEDDING Mr and Mrs C N Jones celebra ted their golden wedding an niversary Sunday afternoon at the Christian church parlors, with many friends and relatives attending. Assisting with the reception were their daughters and daughters-in-law, Mrs Paul Jones, Mrs Floyd Jones, Mrs Marcel Jones, Miss Loma Mae Jones of Port land, Mrs Charles Graybill of Grandview, Washington and Mrs Norman Washburn of Brookings and granddaughters Sandra Jones, Judy Jones, Marcia Jones, Janet, Jody and Jean Washburn and Marda Graybill. The rooms were beautifully decorated with baskets of gold and bronze mums and each ta ble was individually decorated with small bouquets of mums. The tea table was covered with a lace cloth and on it a golden tea and coffee service and the four tiered wedding cake. Serving at the coffee table ; were Mrs Frank S Parker, Mrs Frank E Parker, Mrs Ad Moore, and Mrs Clyde Nokes of Albany. At the punch table were Mrs Jeff Jones, Mrs Dee Jones, Sr, Mrs Alex Green and Mrs Ethel Ziemantz. The cake was served by Mrs Jarvis Chaffee, Mrs Clive Hus ton, Mrs Earl Soward and Mrs Ed Craber. The Rev and Mrs Charles Knox sang a duet, accompanied by Mrs Fred Hoskins at the piano, and group singing was also en joyed. Those assisting in the kitchen were Mrs Theta Stratton, Mrs Ralph Scott, Sheryl Harris and Sharon Keithley. Theater Party Honors Twelfth Birthday On Saturday evening Donny Wayne Munkers celebrated his twelfth birthday with a party at the home of his parents, Mr and Mrs Riley Munkers. His guests were Jerry Healy, Mike Sweek, Dean Robinson, Ted Turner, Lee Daggett, Bobby Simms of Arlington and Gary Munkers. Community Church In Monument Scene Of Friday Wedding By MARTHA MATTESON ! The Monument Community church was the setting on Fri day evening, November 13, for the wedding of Miss Theo Mae VanDetta, oldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles VanDetta of Monument, to Harold Dean Woods, son of August Woods of Long Creek. The bride, who was escorted to the altar by her father, re-1 peated her vows in the tradition al vhite with veil to match. She carried mums on a white Bible. The wedding was solemnized by the Rev Mllo Franke of Day ville. Mrs Jessie Scott, matron of honor, wore a rose pink lace dress. Bridesmaids were Sharon Hln ton and Helen Smith, who were gowned in pink lace and Glenda Hanes and Jerrie Flemings in blue lace. Each carried mums :o match their dresses. Darrell Savage of Long Creek was the best man and ushers were Harvey Sweek and Butch Powell of Long Creek. Marvis O'Rourke of Joseph, cousin of the bride, was flower girl and she was dressed In white. The brides mother chose a grey tweed suit for the wedding. Flower arrangements were by Mrs Lydia Gertson, the mums were raised by Mattesons and Mattie Stubbiefield. A reception was held immed iately following the ceremony, In the grange hall. After cutting of the cake by the bride, the cake was cut and served by Mrs Tom Koss; coffee was poured by Mrs Kenneth Holmes, both of EojFner. Punch was served by Mrs Mike O' Rourke of Joseph, aunt of the bride. Miss Marge Cannon of Long Creek was in charge of the gift table and the guest book. After a short visit to the valley to see the groom's mother, the couple will be at home in Long Creek where he is employed. Mrs Woods was a 1959 graduate from Monument high scajcJ. Mrs Leonard Honors Newcomer With Two Parties In Lexington Mrs Mervln Leonard entertain ed with two dessert-bridge par ties at her home in Lexington on Tuesday and Wednesday af ternoons of last week, honoring Mrs Bob Frink, who has Just moved with her husband, to Lexington from Pendleton. The guests on Tuesday were the Mesdames Clarence Rose wall, Bruce Spencer, Ralph Thompson, Frank Turner, Dick Wilkinson, Floyd Worden, J R Huffman, Jack Bedford, Claude Graham, Robert Penland, Alex Thompson, E K Schaffitz, L E Dick, P W Mahoney, Wallace Wolff, Raymond Ferguson, Frank Wilkinson, Herman Green and Philip Blakney. Mrs Frink held high score for Tuesday, Mrs Mahoney was sec ond high, Mrs Ralph Thompson was low and Mrs Huffman re ceived the traveling prize. Meredith's guests were Susan Drake, Brenda Young, Sheridan Wyn;an, Myna Lane, Joan Van Houte, Joan Stockard, Jean Marie Healy, Diane Schaffitz, Barbara Gribble, Cniistine Prussing and Becky Webb. After refreshments and games the guests accompanied by Mer iditli returned to Heppner also via hayride. Richland Wedding Of Interest In lone Miss Jacqueline Ruth James, daughter of Mr and Mrs Gull ford James of Richland, Wash ington and Norman LaVerne Piper, son of Mrs Frances Piper of lone, were married November 12 at 8:00 p m in the Reorgan ized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Richland. A reception followed the cer emony. The couple will make their home in the O'Meara apartments in lone. Mrs Piper and John Bryson of lone attended the wedding. They also visited the Leslie Roundy family in Kennewlck for a few days. November 19, 1959 Church Group Plans Annual Bazaar-Tea At the meeting of the WSCS of the Methodist church held on November 4, plans were made for the annual bazaar and tea to be held Saturday, November 21 from 2 to 5 p m. Those appointed to committees were, the tea, Mrs Thomas Wells; cooked food, Mrs Harry Dinges; fruit cakes, Mrs Elmer Palmer; fancy work, Mrs Darrel Hudson; surprise table, Mrs Alex Green; Christmas cards, Mrs Ed na Turner; aprons, Mrs Myles Martin; pillow corner, Mrs Harry Duvall. The MYF will be in charge of candy sales and Mrs Kenneth Keeling in charge of publicity. Mrs Gene Ferguson gave the program on population on the move, social creeds and moving population. The hostesses were Mrs J O Hager, Miss Ona Gilliam and Mrs Charles Vaughn. Mrs Austin McGhee was ap pointed vice president to fill the vacancy left when Mrs Tom Wells took over the junior choir. The Methodist church will have a potluck on November 22 at 5:30 p m. A film, 'The Split Level Family," will be shown. Losers At Bridge Entertain Highs At Hobo Party Friday Tlie Friday night bridge club met at the home of Mrs Dick Meaaor last week with the lows omertaining the highs.
