Judy Cochell sang a solo, Oliver Creswick sang two solos and Mrs Charles Ruggles accompanied them both. Sandra Jones gave a reading. Mrs Anderson Holds High Score At Club The Renegers bridge club was entertained at the home of Mrs James Norene Wednesday night of last week. Those attending were Mrs Gene Hall, Mrs Frank Anderson Mrs Fred Gimbel, Mrs Alex Thompson, Mrs Allen Case, Mrs Bruce Spencer, Mrs Creston Rob inson, Mrs Paul Webb, Mrs Bill Labhart, Mrs La Verne Van Mar ter, Mrs Bill Sowell and Mrs Eddie Gunderson. High score was held by Mrs Anderson, second high was Mrs Robinson and low was Mrs Sow ell. Twentv members attended a luncheon meeting of the Morrow County Cow Belles on Oct i at the Elks dining room. The meeting was called to or der by the president, Mrs Ray H Frpnch and the secretary and treasurers reports were giv en and approved. Mrs Flovd Jones, chairman of the place mat committee, gave the report that 5,000 more had hnpn ordered to be sold for two cents each.- It was also reported that donations are short for tne brand cuts on the place mats. There was discussion concern tnir thp 4-H awards for the best meat demonstration. It was de cided that the 4-H girl giving. the best meat demonstration would win a trophy and the Beef Cook Book. The 4-H girl placing second would receive the cook book. The girls must understand that in competing in Morrow county, any meat can be dem onstrated, but competing for the state the meat must be beef. The annual Morrow County Livestock Growers and Cow Belles meeting to be held Jan uary 15 was discussed and Esther Kirmis, extension agent, showed some of the many things of in terest to the general public on meat demonstration and cookery. It was decided that of most in terest was a demonstration of mpnt eookerv and carving. The public will be invited, as well as home ec and FFA classes. The cooked meat will be used as the door rjrize. Manv Guests Hear Thailand Speaker At Soroptimist Club Those who were guests at the Thursday meeting of the Sor optimist Club of Heppner, to hear Nai Yanyong Charanyananaa oi Thailand, speak to the group were Robert Van Houte, Mrs Tom Wilson of Sandpoint, Idaho, Mrs Fred Parrish, Mrs Charles Knox, Mr and Mrs J.O Turner, Mrs Harry O'Donnell, Jr, Mrs Jack Loyd, Mrs Joe Wright and James Hager. Roseann Ayers was the senior girl representative at the meeting from Heppner high school. lone Sorority Has Las Vegas Party The October social meeting of Beta Omega chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha was held uct 21 in the lone Legion hall, by the members, their husbands and guests. The theme was a Las Vegas party, with the hall being clev erly decorated as the Silver Slip per night club. Entertainment consisted of two dances by Marilee and Renee Leathers and Dalene McDonald; two vocal numbers by Lona White, accompanied by Mrs Noel Dobyns at the organ; two vocal numbers by Don Heliker. Mrs Dobvns entertained at the organ throughout the evening. Various games were played, with Mrs Walter Corley winning high Jor the ladies and Donald Heliker high for men. Robert Hoskins received the door prize. Refreshments were served by Mrs Donald Heliker, Mrs Tad Miller, Mrs Robert Rietmann, Mrs Robert Hoskins, Mrs Arthur Crawford, Mrs Art Warren, Mrs Don Llnnell and Mrs Ted Pal-mateer. Mrs Thomson Hostess For Bridge Club The Whats Trumps bridge club met at the home of Mrs James Thomson, last Wednesday after noon, for a salad luncheon. Guests were Mrs Lowell Grib ble. Mrs P W Mahonev. Mrs Tom Wilson, Mrs Claude Graham, Mrs Allen Case, Mrs Clarence Rose- wall. Mrs E K Schaffitz, Mrs Gene Ferguson, Mrs Harold Cohn, Mrs Raymond Ferguson, Mrs Ko- bert Penland and the hostess. Mrs Wilson had high score, Mrs Gene Ferguson was second high, Mrs Gribble third and Mrs Case low. Mrs Wilson, who is a former members of the club, has been visiting here from her home in Sandpoint, Idaho. Boardman Girl Plans Summer Wedding Mr and Mrs Willard A Baker of Boardman announce the en gagement of their daughter, Con nie Lou, to George D Bolce, son of Mr and Mrs William Bolce of Kennewick, Wash. A summer wedding is planned. Miss Baker is a graduate of Boardman high school or the class of 1957, and is now a lunlor at Eastern Oregon Col lege of Education in La Grande. Methodist Women To Observe Quiet Day Members of the Methodist church Women's Society of Christian Service will observe 'Quiet Dav" of the week of pray er and self-denial, Friday from 11:30 a m to 1:00 p m. Mrs Kenneth Batty, secretary of spiritual life, for the group, is in charge of the program. A sack lunch is planned and all women are invited to attend and to bring a self denial offer ing for the missionary work of the Society. Wilsons Feted At Dessert-Bridge Party Dr and Mrs Wallace Wolff en tertained with a dessert-bridge narlv at their home Thursday evening of last week In honor of Mr and Mrs Tom Wilson of Sand point, Idaho. The guests were Mr and Mrs Bill Collins, Mr and Mrs Jim Driscoll, Mr and Mrs LaVerne Van Marter, Mr and Mrs Conley Lanham and Mr and Mrs Wilson. The couple winning high prize was M and Mrs Collins, second high w.is won by Mr and Mrs Wilson and low by Mr and Mrs Van Marter. Lutheran Church Has Family Night A familv potluck dinner was held Friday evening of last week at the Hope Lutheran church with about fiftv attending. The hostesses in charge were Mrs Kenneth Klineer.
