IBM 80 at Boardman Teacher Reception By MART LEE MARLOW About 80 persons attended the teacher s reception held In the school gymnasium Tuesday evening of last week. Mrs Hen ry Zlvney, P4TA president, gave the welcome and Introduced Ron ald Black, FFA Instructor, who was master of ceremonies. Mer rill E Shaw, pastor of the Com munity church gave the invocation. Mrs Elmer Messenger, Mrs Robert Harwood, Mrs Walter Hayes. Mrs Dale Eades. Mrs Wil- sang "God's Little Angels," ac companied by her mother, Mrs Ronald Black. Black Introduced Jack Flug, principal, who Introduced the teachers. Mrs Ruth Coy teaches English and typing, and also is librarian; Mrs Nancy Leroux teaches English and mathemat lcs; Miss Muriel Ley, home ec onomlcs and girls' physical ed ucation; social science and foot ball coach, Robert Strutz; bask etball coach, Richard Waymire; science, Lester Leroux. Band In structor, and music, Wolfgang Edelmann. Mrs Edolmann is of flee secretary. Airs Merrill bhaw played a piano solo, "Let The Lower Lights Be Burning." Dorothy Rash, Eileen Ely, Ir ene rotts, Patty Miller, Ton! Tay lor and Sandra Thorpe sang "Day By Day," accompanied by Mrs Shaw. In charge of refreshments and decorations were Mrs Harold Ba ker, Mrs John Partlow and Mrs Zoe Billings, grade school teach ers. . Mrs George Sicard was hostess for a shower Wednesday night of last week at her home In hon or of Beatrice Cassidy, bride elect of Lawrence Ledbetter, Pendleton. Co-hostesses were Mrs Bob Sicard, Mrs Gunnar Skoubo, Mrs Henry Gantenbeln and Mrs Ray Gronquist In a game play ed, Mrs Partlow and Mrs Glen Carpenter won prizes. Mr and Mrs Walter Thompson and daughter Wallene, Moses Lake, Wash, were weekend vis itors at the home of Mrs Thomp- sons uncle and aunt, Air and Mrs Zearl Gillespie. Mr and Mrs Al Macomber of Arlington were visitors at the home of Macombers brother and sister-in-law, Mr and Mrs Nate Macomber, Sunday. Another din ner guest was Mrs Florence Root. Mr and Mrs Ted Zivney and children Teddle Joe and Susan of Portland were weekend vis itors at the home of Zivney's parents, Mr and Mrs Henry Ziv ney. Sunday they returned home and Mr and Mrs Zivney, son Roger and Mrs Zivney's mother, Mrs Lulu Stevens, who has been visiting here from Portland, all went to Portland with them. Mr Frank Munkers Is a patient In Pioneer Memorial hospitaL Mrs Amle Sperry of Portland was an overnight guest with her daughter and familv. -Mr and Mrs Eldon Padberg one day last week. Mrs Bob Davidson and daugh ters Dora Sue and Beverlv. and Miss Maureen Groves of Hepp- ner and Mrs Virginia Reed of Grandvlew were Pendleton busi ness visitors on Monday. A surprise birthday party was given Saturday, Oct 3 for Jerry Davidson at the Bob Davidson home with Beverly acting as hos tess. Guests for the evening were: Sandra Cambell, Beverley Blake, Sandra Harshman, Ronnie Belsma, Mary Shannon, Ronnie Creswick, and Don Clark of Hep pner, Bruce Rigby of lone, and. Bobby Davidson, and Dennis and Roger Doherty and Jim Steagall of Lexington. A scavenger hunt was enjoyed and games were played after refreshments were served, followed by dancing. A goodly number of the i"Tops" club motored to Pendle ton on Tuesday night where they were entertained at the Till!- ll hv the Pendle- jton "Tops". A lovely dinner was served at 7 p m with the taDies !gayly decorated in the October theme. Later the Lexington group put on a skit, the State Versus Mrs Belittle, in a "ver- Idict is your" theme. The teachers were presented with corsages and duly intro duced to the visitors. They an nounced their enrollments as follows, first grade, Miss Fern Bonnell with 20, second grade, Mrs Donalda Knighten with 17, third grade, Mrs Roberta Davis with 11, and 4th grade, Mrs C C Carmichael, 14. After a most enjoyable evening, refreshments were served. Mr and Mrs M V Nolan en tertained with" a dinner on Sun day honoring their daughter and husband, Mr and Mrs Franklin Miles on their wedding anniver sary. Present were Mrs Miles grandparents, Mr and Mrs Bert Peck, Mr Miles parents, Mr and Mrs Jim Dunbar, and the Miles children, Glenn and Donna, Vern Nolan and the hosts for the day.
