This is the first time in 48 years that the brothers have seen each other. Other guests were sisters of Mrs Ma jeske, Mrs Hattie Dornbrack and daughter, Verna, of Wausua, Wis and Mrs Wates Slckler of Rlngle, Wis. also Mrs Jack Mounts and son of Amboy, Washington, daughter of Mr and Mrs Ma joske. Mr and Mrs Cecil Jones and children were called to Portland Sunday by the death of Mrs Jones's aunt, Mrs Elsie Cavin, while on vacation near Hermis ton on Friday afternoon. Mr Courtney of Portland was a caller at the Walter Smith home one day last week. Rose Ann Shanks Is visiting her brother Johnnie at the Gar Leyva home this week. Mrs Gar Leyva is visiting her sister and mother at Shumalet for a few days. Louise, Hank and Tom Pointer were host and hostess for a party on Sunday afternoon at the Pointer ranch honoring Penny and Bill Parsons who are leav ing soon to make their home In Portland. The . afternoon was spent in eating and visiting. Charlene Jones was hostess on Monday night for a personal shower honoring Penny Parsons, The following girls were present, Janet and Carol Ann Palmer, Judy Darnielle, Louise Pointer, Beverly Davidson and the hos tess. Mrs Bill Parsons served the punch. The Women s Fellowship group met at the C C Jones home on Tuesday with Lola Breeding as hostess. After the business meet- ng, Miss Sylvia Severance gave most interesting and instruc tive talk on her life In Formoa where she served as a mission ary. At this time she showed a table of the hand craft sent back from that country. Devotlonals were given by Mrs Cora Allyn. Those present were: Mrs Allyn, LaVerne Henderson, Florence McMillan, May Campbell, Del pha Jones, Sylvia Severance, and Lola Breeding. The next meeting will be held at the Mitzie Peek home. A farewell party honoring Deb bie Peterson, John and Jack Hat field was held at the B J Do herty home with Jerry Doherty and Vesta Kilkenny as hostesses. Those present were: Brenda Stea- gall, Phyllis Thornburg, Barbara Bloodsworth, Christine Munkers, Valda Irvln, Barbara Faircloth, Norita Marquardt, Matt Hughes, Chris Lovgren, Russell Kilken ny, Ivan Adlard, Bobby Van Winkle, Nancy Doherty, Maureen Doherty, Martha Doherty and the quests of honor and Mr and Mrs Don Hatfield. Refreshments of liot dogs, marshmallows, and Ice :ream were served, and a gift was presented to them to remem er their classmates by. A farewell potluck dinner was held at the ranch home of Mr and Mrs Norman Nelson honor ng Mr and Mrs Don Hatfield. I'hose present were, Mr and Mrs Harold Beach and Sandra, Mr and Mrs Ken Peck and children, Mr and Mrs Jack Barak and Da vld and Douglas, Mr and Mrs Norman Nelson and Kristin and Chuck. At this time a beautiful gift was presented the Hatfields. Mr and Mrs Walt Smith were Pendleton visitors Sunday. Mr and Mrs O W Cuteforth pent several days this last week In Portland. Donna Dee Hughes and Fred rick Long of Seattle, Wash were Sunday callers at the Cora Allyn home. Miss Hughes at one time made her home with Mrs Allyn. Mr ana Mrs Harry Fo, daugh ter of Mrs Allyn and Mrs Allyn's great grandchildren, Jimmle, Monument News Ansel Martin and Henry Mar tin drove to John Day wednea day on business. Mrs Stanley Musgrave and daughter, Merlnda and Mrs JIra Croker were In John Day Fri day on business. The state forestry has finished grading the roads to Rudlo Mt and the rest of them for the sum mer. Mr and Mrs Bob Holmes and Mrs Jim Croker left Tuesday for the American Legion and auxil iary convention to be held this week in Salem. Mr and Mrs Mead Gllman will leave on Wed nesday for the convention.
