Mrs Adams won the award for earning money for the scholar ship fund in the most unique manner, mowing lawns for hire; Mrs Loyal Parker received the attendance award, having been absent from meetings only once during the past nine years. . Musical interludes were pro vided by Miss Elaine Laird, who sang "In the Heart of the Hills," accompanied by Miss Carol K Anderson, and by Mr and Mrs Gordon Pratt. Mr Pratt sang, "Do Not Go, My Love" by Hage man and "I Love" by Beethoven, accompanied by Mrs Pratt. Mr and Mrs Pratt 'also played two piano duets, Hungarian Dance No 5 and Hungarian Dance No 6 by Brahms. Ruby Fulleton Has Ninth Birthday Ruby Anne Fulleton celebrated her ninth birthday Friday, June 26, in the afternoon with a party at the home of her parents, Mr and Mrs R R Fulleton. Her guests for the afternoon were Martha Pierce, Anna Marie and Jennifer Brindle, Rita Petty john, Harry Bongers Jr, Phyllis and Nancy Everly, Judy and Sherri Phoenix, Paula Siewart, Vicky Robinson, Jane Storro, Marsha Jones, Verla and Dalye Anne Herschell, and Dianna and Becky Jo Fulleton. They will make their home in Corvallis while com- pleting their studies at Oregon State College. (Dodge) KONONEN-BARKHORN WEDDING, JUNE EVENT IN CALIFORNIA CHURCH : An all-white theme with yel low accents prevailed Friday night, June 19 when Miss Bar bara Barkhorn entered the First Unitarian church, Stockton, Cal ifornia, to become the bride of Richard LaVerne (Dick) Konon en of Heppner. The bride is the daughter of Mr and Mrs George R Barkhorn of Stockton and the groom, the son of Mrs Clarence Cox of Hepp ner and the late Ben Kononen. For her 7:30 p m marriage she donned a princess style gown of parchment satin overlaid with acelon lace at the fitted bodice. The dress was designed with scalloped sabrina neckline, tap "ered lace sleeves, and a cummer bund of slipper satin ending in a back bow and streamers, a back bow and streamers. She Carried a spray of orchids which had been flown from Hawaii. Miss Shirley Carol Kononen, sister of the groom and college roommate of the bride, was maid of honor and the bridesmaids were Miss,. Jean W Garvey of Stockton and Miss Betty Dahler of Salt Lake City. They wore Identical street length frocks of white linen styl ed . with scoop necklines, three quarter length sleeves, cummer bunds and bows. Each added a bow and small veil as a head piece and carried a bouquet of yellow carnations. Miss Konon en's flowers were accented with white, while the bridesmaids car ried all yellow bouquets. - The bride was given in mar riage by her father and the cere mony was performed by the Rev Harold E Schmidt before an altar decorated with white gladioli and stock, green bells and yellow carnations. White tapers in tall candelabra were also used. S James H Hayes of Heppner was jjj best man and ushers were Law- rence Chew of Palo Alto, Calif 5 and Martin Harms of Livermore. 5 The bride's mother was attired 5 in a muted blue silk print dress 5 in a modified empire design. Her 5 blue flowered hat matched her s dress and she added white ac x cessories. The groom's mother 3 chose a beige print dress with a 5 j back panel enhancing the skirt. 5 A white hat and white accessor 5' ies completed her ensemble. William G Thompson sang, ac- ,companied at the organ by Mac EE lyn Ball. 5 A reception followed the cere S mony in Jackson hall. 5 Those from this area attend s ing the wedding were Mr and 5 Mrs Clarence Cox, Shirley Kon 5 onen, Mrs William Cunningham, grandmother of the groom, Mrs Herman Blettell, his aunt, Miss Janice Beamer and Mr and Mrs Larry Dowen of Placerville, Cal ifornia, former Heppner residents. Mr and Mrs Kononen will make their home in Corvallis where he will enter his fifth year as a pharmacy student at Ore gon State College and she will be a senior. Mrs Jones' son Gary escorted her to the East under an arch formed by the Rainbow Girls, who were Pam and Judy Cochell, Barbara Siewert, Shcryl Harris, Judy Brinda and Janice Martin. Sandra Jones escorted her father to the East. The Rainbow Girls performed an adendum and presented Mrs Jones with a bouquet of gladioli in the seven Rainbow colors and they also sang a number en titled "Rainbow Time." Mrs L D Tibbies was presented with her p"ast matron's pin by Mrs Roy Quackenbush and Claude Graham was presented a past patrons pin by Paul Jones. Mrs Ealor Huston presented a gift from the past matrons club to Mrs Jones. A reception followed with Mrs J 0 Turner, Mrs Loyal Parker, Mrs Charles Vaughn and Mrs Gene Ferguson in charge. Cookies, punch and coffee were served with Mrs Claude Graham and Mrs L D Tibbies pouring. Two Couples Hosts For Sunday Party Mr and Mrs Howard Cleveland and Mr and Mrs Alex Thompson were co-hosts and hostesses for an evening dinner party Sunday at the Cleveland home on Willow creek. Those attending were Mr and Mrs James J Farley, Mr and Mrs LaVerne Van Marter, Mr and Mrs Bill Blake, Mr and Mrs Paul Webb, Mr and Mrs L E Dick, Mr and Mrs Bill Labhart, Mr and Mrs Jerry Daggett, Mr and Mrs Floyd Jones, and James Healy. Annual Bank Picnic Enjoyed Sunday The First National Bank an nual picnic was held at Parkers Mill Sunday, June 28 for all the bank employees and their fam ilies. Potluck Dinner Held At Gene Hall Home A potluck dinner was held at the home of Mr and Mrs Gene Hall Saturday evening of last week, and those attending were Mr and Mrs Delmer Crawford, Mr and Mrs Louis Carlson, Mr and Mrs Jim Pettyjohn, Mr and Mrs Pete Cannon, Mrs Bob Jep son, Mr and Mrs Ernie McCabe, and Mr and Mrs Ted Palmateer.
