They surely slow a person down! I'm happy to announce that we have received the backing of the county court to have printed the Morrow county history, gath ered by our extension units. The mimeographed histories, printed in January, have long disappeared out of our office and have really become a col lector's item. Wheels were set in motion on Monday when I asked Mrs Nor man Nelson, lone, to chairman the editing committee. Mrs Omar Rietmann, lone; and Mrs Anne Smouse, Heppner, are the other historlans have been con , ked t tum Jn an; - , ----- , . . over the history, and get it ready . for the printers. The plan Is to have the his tory printed in booklet form and sold for a small sum. (More definite information will be giv en after we contact the printer.) The county court had approp riated some money for the cele-l bration of the centennial and felt the printing of the county's his tory was a good way to invest it- Are vou thinking about can- nine- and freezing? . . . then you'll like this! Morrow county is fortunate in having a visit from Mrs Vivian Freeman, home economist of White Satin Sugar, on June 2, at the Heppner fair pavilion. I contacted Mrs Freeman when I attended the 4-H May festival in Dallas on May 2. 3ne was demonstrating canning to the 4-H youngsters and doing a mag nificent job. When I talked with her, I found that she was coming to Baker countv the first week In June, so I asked why she could n't stop off in Morrow county, too. We've cleared the date so on June 2 she will give a canning and freezing demonstration at the 4-H annex building out at the fair grounds, starting at 1:30 p m. For manv vears Mrs Freeman demonstrated for the Kerr Glass ComDanv. Durine World War II she went all over Oregon, Wash ington, and Idaho giving dem onstrations on canning and pres erving food. The many years of experience have maae her a pro fessional.
