The com pleted application consists of the application and three reference forms, all of which must be in the hands of the scholarship chairman by May 1. Each recipient will be selected by a scholarship committee ap pointed by the president of the lone P-TA. To be considered in selection is character, citizen ship, scholarship, leadership, and financial need of the applicants. The amount of this scholar ship shall be paid to the college upon receipt of a statement of charges for tuition, or board and room, or any other approval fee charged by the college. Mrs Roy Lindstrom named committes for the school picnic, May 29. the chairman are, tables, Mrs Lewis Ball; kitchen, Mrs Harvey Ring; punch, Mrs How ard Crowell; coffee, Mrs Art War ren; ice cream, Wallace Mat thews and pre-school children, Mrs Lawrence Jones. Mr and Mrs Ralph Crum will donate the punch, Ice cream and coffee for the picnic. Fredrick Martin eave a talk on the school budget to be voted on May 18 and urged all to vote. Mrs Matthews who has been president of the P-TA for the rast two vears gave a talk thanking all the teachers and others who helped to make her terms a success. Refreshments were served by Mrs Phil Emert, Mrs Dallas Shockley, Mrs Arnie Hedman, Mrs Gordon White and Mrs James Pettyjohn. The tables were decorated in spring flowers. The scraD book witn Mrs Keene in charge, was on dis play. ThP 1st erade and the Junior of the high school received the pennants for having the largest percentage of parents present at the meeting. Mrs Orville Cutsforth showed a Rprt Cross film on swimming. She reported that any one eligi ble to take Red Cross instructions they could go to school for that purpose, and there was funds available. K I PRESIDING AT THE TEA TABLE at last Sunday's open house at Pioneer Memorial hospital in observance of National Hospital Week, were left Mrs Wallace Wolff, and Mrs A D McMurdo. Open House Tea Held At Pioneer Hospital Sunday afternoon, May 17, in observance of National Hospital Week, an open house and tea was held at Pioneer Memorial hospital between the hours of 2 and 4pm.' Mrs Garland Swanson, Mrs P W Mahoney and Mrs Jack Van Winkle, wives of board members and Mrs D O Nelson and Mrs Mervin Leonard, board members, acted as hostesses for the after noon. Guides for tours of the hos pital were Mrs Clarence Rose wall, Mrs C C Jones, and Mrs Al Wlnkleman. The tea table was decorated with white Dutch Iris, yellow mums and daisies with a cut glass punch bowl and silver tea service. Mrs A D McMurdo, Mrs Wallace Wolff, Mrs D J Bay- link and Mrs Harry Bongers poured. Those assisting were Mrs Robert Davidson, and Mrs Jones. McQuarries Entertain The Duplicate Club The Duplicate Bridge club was entertained at the home of Mr and Mrs C E McQuarrie Sunday evening. Their guests were Mr and Mrs Tnm Wilson. Mr and Mrs La- Verne Van Marter, Mr and Mrs Gordon Pratt, Mr and Mrs L Dick, Mr and Mrs Lowell Grib hi Mr and Mrs Conley Lan- ham, and Dr and Mrs Wallace Wolff. Mr and Mrs Keene's family surpris ed them by honoring their 46 wedding anniversary. Those present besides the honored guests and the host and hostess es were, Mr and Mrs Bryce Keene and Loy, Kathy and Richard; Mr and Mrs L A McCabe and Christine and Doris; Mr and Mrs James Pettyjohn and Earl James, Linda, Nancy and Jerry; Mr and Mrs Alvin McCabe and Ashley; Mr and Mrs Leland McKinney, and Miss Barbara Baker, all of lone; Mr and Mrs Roy Camp bell and Mr and Mrs Roger Campbell and Nancy, Debbie and Davie of Lexington.. Bouquets of lilacs, tulips, daf fodils and flowering branches decorated the pathway to the house where cozy tea tables with flowered clothes and hurricane lamp centerpieces awaited the guests. Of special interest was the dis play of antique clothing, books and household articles. At a table set with Ironstone, old china and a hand-crocheted coverlet, Mrs Robert Jones, Mrs Nels Anderson and Mrs Dean Shaver poured from 3 to 5 p m. HEPPNER GAZETTE-TIMES, Thursday, May 21, 1959 Piano Pupils of Mrs Turner Presented In Sunday Recital Mrs J O Turner presented her piano pupils in recital Sunday afternoon at the Heppner Christ Ian church. Those who participated in the program are Trisha Farley, Ju dith Jones, Gail Hoskins, Vicky Kreimeyer, Susan and Stephen Lindstrom, Karen and Cheryle Lundell, Kathy Melby, Terry and Marjorie O'Connor, Judy Schmidt Judy Smith, Linda Stewart, Jean Stoi'kard, Mrs E E Schaffitz, Ginnlou Turner, Steve and John ny Wagenblast. Victor Kreimeyer was guest soloist, accompanied by Mrs Kreimeyer. A tea and reception was given following the recital with Miss Leta Humphreys In charge. Mrs Anna Lindstrom and Mrs Frank Parker poured. Mrs Turner was presented with gift and a basket of flowers at the end of the recital. Officers Installed By lone Sorority The annual banquet of the Beta Omega chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha was held May 16 at Stefanls Fine Foods for mem bers and their husbands. The tables were decorated with spring flowers by Mrs Don Peterson, banquet chairman. Mrs Joe Hausler was presen ted with a bon voyage sail boat filled with a handkerchief from each member. Mr and Mrs Hausler are moving to Salt Lake City in June. The district officers for 1958 1959 from this chapter, Mrs El don Padberg and Mrs L F Leath ers, were presented with gifts from the chapter. Mrs Walter Corley, president, was presented with a gift by the officers of the chapter. Installation of officers for 1958-59 was held with Mrs Cor ley as installing officer. Those installed were Mrs Don Peter son, president; Mrs David Mc Leod, vice president; Mrs Art Warren, recording secretary; Mrs Ted Palmateer, corresponding secretary; Mrs Robert Peterson, treasurer and Mrs Charles Do herty, educational director. Bridge Party Enjoyed At Mallon Home Mrs James Mallon entertain ed in her home Friday evening with a bridge party. The guests attending were Mrs Clarence Johnson, Mrs Ralph Richmond, Mrs Don Bennett, Mrs Gordon Pratt, Mrs Bob Jones, Mrs Fred Glmbel, and Mrs Ed die Gunderson. High score for the evening was held by Mrs Johnson, second high was by Mrs Glmbel, and Mrs Bennett won low. Printing Is Our Business I Call Us Rebekahs Name Assembly Delegates Instructions were given to del egates to the Rebekah Assembly at Roseburg at the regular meet ing of Sans Soucl Rebekah lodge Friday, May 15. The delegates leaving early this week were, Mrs Merle Kirk, Mrs Pearl De vine and Miss Esther Bergstrom. Mrs R G McMurtry and Mrs Ray McDowell were chosen as alter nates. Mrs Fred Thomas was presen ted with a seal of perfection for the unwritten work by Mrs Merle Kirk, district deputy president. In other business, Mrs Ray McDowell was elected drill team captain for the coming year; a donation was made to the Red Cross and a fair booth was dis cussed but no action taken. Mrs Oma Cox was presented with a birthday gift. The next meeting will be June 5 when assembly delegates will report Hostesses for the evening were Mrs Gerald Rood, noble grand, Mrs Frank Ayers and Mrs Earl Soward. Mrs Gimbel Holds High Score At Bridge Tuesday evening Mrs Donald Bennett entertained her bridge club at her home. Her guests were Mrs Ralph Richmond, Mrs Glen Ward, Mrs Marion Green, Mrs Jack Healy, Mrs Fred Gimbel, Mrs Del Jor dan, Mrs Marshall Lovgren, and Mrs Ray Elkins. Mrs Gimbel won first prize for the evening, Mrs Lovgren was second high, and Jack high and low prizes were won by Mrs Green.
