Thursday, April 16. 1959 Annual Banquet, Sweetheart Ball Held at Lexington By DELPHA JONES An evening of fun, entertain ment, and the renewing of old acquaintances started for many of the Lexington people with a banquet at the I O O F hall, when the parents of the high school students, students, and faculty were entertained by the high school and the P-TA. The rooms were decorated In the Last Round -Up theme, with clever little animals, covered wagons, adorning the centers of the table. The menu also in the Round-Up theme, was Bull Dogger's (fruit cup) Little Doggie (chicken) Tumbleweeds (corn) Cow pun cher potato (mashed potatoes) and cactus salad (tossed green salad,) flapjacks and saddle soap frnlls find butter) Ranger's de light (ice cream), buckshot (nuts) cups oi spur tconee ana punch.) The program for the evening started with the invocation by Father Gaire, Introductions of school board members, Mr M V Nolan, introduction of teachers by Dale Waddill, speaker Rev Norman ivonnrup. At this time Dora Sue Davidson presented the P E teacher, Mrs sperry with an appreciation gift, and Char lene Jones presented the math tnacher Mrs T.neile Weatherford with an appreciation gift. These were lovely bud vases with the year of their graduation written in gold on them and filled with pink rose buds; Charlene Jones, Beverley Davidson, Linda VanWinkle and Carol Ann Palmer received one each. At this time Laddie Henderson presented the coach Bob Matthews with a gift, and Mr waddill an appreciation gilt. Also remomhered at this time was the manager Roger Doherty. Following the banquet a Sweetheart Ball was given in the trvm with the Last Round-Urj theme being carried out. The room was decorated with yellow varinatpd streamers and waeon wheels with vellow bulbs. The orchestra stand was made of blue crepe paper with silver stars, and the registration booth was made tn resemble a bunk house and was also the hat and coat check room. The main thing of attrac tion was an old fashioned bar with fancv bottles filled with colored water, and barrel of root beer and pretzels were served. Following this the evening was spent in dancing and renewing acquaintances. Charlene Jones entertained the hieh school and guests at break fast Immediately following the dance Saturday evening.
