I have followed the careers of the Lexington and Heppner football teams this fall with a great deal of pride. In reporting these sales, the county chairman said that Oct ober a year ago was by far the best sales month In 1957 In most counties, and In the state at large. State wide savings bonds sales last month were $3,387,714. A year ago they totaled $4,860, 451. "Many economists feel that a new wave of opportunity Is com ing," the chairman said when discussing the value of bonds to the community, state and nation. "Our reserves are going up. To day we have $340 billion in all forms of savings available for future spending. This compares with $68 billion in 1940.
