A pot luck dinner was served before the meeting. The purpose of the meet ing was to outline the business for the year. Instructors and wives attending were Mr. and Mrs. Har old Babcock and Mr. and Mrs. Hannon from Wy-East school near Hood River; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Robertson, Moro; Mr. anU Mrs. Llewelyn Robbins, Heppner; Mr. and Mrs. Ken Tellefson, Her miston; Clay Ballance, Pendleton; Mr. and Mrs. Hadley Aikens, Ath ena; Arthur Ferguson, Milton Freewater; Mr. and Mrs. Dorcey Davey, The Dalles; and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Black, Boardman. The annual banquet of the Boardman chapter will be held Doc. S. The Tillicum club held a speci al meeting Tuesday night at the home of Mrs. Eldon Shannon for the purpose of planning the O.E.A. dinner for the meeting here Dec. 2. Mrs. Dewey West will be In charge. The Boardman school teachers will be In charge of the tables. The club planned a Christmas party for Dec. 10 to be at the home of Mrs. Ralph Skoubo with gift exchange. Members are also to bring gifts to be sent to the state hospital at Pendleton, and to the Indian school at Chemawa. The Brown Foundation of Walla Walla, presented an assembly program on astronomy to the school Wednesday. A girls volleyball tournament will be held at the school gym nasium here Monday, Nov. 25, starting at 7 p.m. Schools partici pating will be Irrigon, Heppner, Lexington, Echo, Stanfield, lone, Umatilla and Boardman. The county extension unit met Tuesday for an all day meeting at the home of Mrs. Nathan Thorpe, with 15 members present Subject was "Using Native Ma terials". Leaders were Mrs. Thorpe and Mrs. Bobbie Stewart. Co-hostesses were Mrs. Myron Watts and Mrs. Arnold Hoffman. The Ladies Aid society of Com munity church met Wednesday at the church for a short business meeting and social hour. Hostess es were Mrs. Ruth Lyons and Mrs. Myron Watts. The Rev. Troy Cost low, evang elist, from Glendale, Calif., left for his home Sunday after a week of revival meetings at the Com munity church. Special music was by Mr. and Mrs. Howia Steven son of Portland. Stevenson is a , director of music at the Multno mah School of the Bible. At the meeting of the Boardman P-TA last Thursday afternoon, Stevenson presented a piano solo, "The Lord's Prayer", and an ac cordion solo, "Fairest Lord Jesus" and "A Mighty Fortress'V He led in devotions, reading a portion of John 6. I The Rev. Bob Ellison, pastor of the Conservative Baptist church I in Hermiston, spoke on the rela tion ana importance oi me nome, church and school In religious education. Membership committee ap pointed was Mrs. Lowell Shattuck, east end; Mrs. Rollo Moore, west end; Mrs. Woody Malone, town The count of ballots sent out concerning community treats for Christmas resulted in 9 for com munity treats, 6 against, and 34 for treats for Dre-school ana pn mary pupils, which Included throueh the third erade. The treats committee is Mrs. Ronald Black, Mrs. Henry Gantenbein, and Mrs. Harold Kress. Ronalfl Black is chairman of .the tree committee. Decorations commit tee is Mr. and Mrs. Robert Har wood and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Waymire. It was decided to have a silver offering each meeting without re freshments. There will be no De cember meeting. The P-TA voted to buy a musi cal instrument for a worthy Rnnrrlman student. It will remain at the school when the student leaves or is through with it. Mrs. Mildred Baker was appointed chairman of a committee to find out about installments and how they can be taken care of, and a wav to make' money for same. 7 She will pick her helpers. The January meeting will be on parliamentary proceedings, with Ronald Black in charge. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hayes went to Eugene Friday to spend the weekend at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Beall. Visitors Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Miller were Mrs. Miller's brother and sister--in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Elbie Akers, and the Rev. and Mrs. Charles Wilks and children Buddy and Mike, all of lone. Mrs. Louise Scott, Mrs. Ruth Peterson and two sons, Maynard Hamilton and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Slocum were all in Heppner Fri day on business. The M.M.M. club met at the home of Mrs. Henry Martin Thursday afternoon with 10 me bers and two visitors present. Some of the club's Christmas plans were made including Gifts to the Yanks, churches, schools, state hospital in Pendleton and other drives like Christmas Seals, Cancer and Red Cross drives.
