They have been making their home at the George Capon ranch with their daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Croker and son Ronny, were supper guests at the Henry Martin home Tues day evening. Arlet Fleming drove Mrs. Jack Jewel to Heppner the first of the week to consult a doctor. Mr. and Mrs. Don Wicks and son Joey of Springfield, Gilbert Raymond of Eugene and Roy Harmon of Blue River returned to their homes after an elk hunt ing trip with Elmer Matteson. They got three cows. A large number of persons turned out Thursday evening for the American Legion and Auxili ary meeting held at the Mead Gilman home. Joeava Enright, Mamie Fergerson and Irene For rest served the refreshments. Doris Capon drove her mother, Delsle Sweek to' John Day Mon day. Grandma Gienger was very ill for a few days, but is much bet ter now. Mrs. Joe Wheeler stayed at the L-S ranch and looked after things while Katie and Dean Enright were riding for cattle. Mrs. Verne MeCarty and three children were dinner guests Sat urday at the Ray Davis home. The Archie Cox family spent Saturday in John Day on busi ness. The Columbia Power Co-op meeting and dance has been changed from Monument to Spray as the new gym will not be fin ished in time. Due to the fact that the new gym is not ready for use, the M.M.M. club will not have its yearly Thanksgiving dance, buf will let Long Creek have the dance this year. It is hoped the Legion and Auxiliary will get to give their Gay 90's dance in Janu ary. A large group drove to Spray Saturday for the amateur hour and dance. The new office built by the state forestry department is near ly completed. The new dial phone system is starting to build a new office bunding in town. Gus Peterson and Rho Bleak man were business callers in Heppner Friday. Here's something different to do to stretch them, in the way of a cool, delightful salad, one with added flavor and food value with little effort To your greens, diced celery, and diced chicken, add canned Florida grapefruit and orange sections, plump and as refreshing as a tall glass of citrus juice, and particularly fitting for summer fare. The canned sections this year are of excellent quality, low in price, and so versatile you'll find plenty of other uses for them in your menus. Here's the citrus-chicken salad recipe: Florida Chicken Salad 1 can 20-ounce Florida orange 2 tablespoons lime juice and grapefruit sections Vi cup mayonnaise ' 2 cups diced cooked chicken Vi teaspoon salt 1 cup diced celery Vi teaspoon pepper Salad greens Drain citrus sections thoroughly. Add drained sections to chicken and celery in mixing bowl. Mix together lime juice, mayonnaise and seasoning. Add to sahd and toss lightly. Serve with salad greens and garnish with additional sections. YIELD: 5 to G servings. A Festive Holiday Pudding tvo- gy , iv What a heavenly dessert . . what a compliment to a holiday meal! It's Fruited Holiday Pudding, a delightful blend of juicy tan gerine sections, figs, almonds and raspberry-flavored gelatin, crowned with an extra topping of whipped cream and tangerine sections. Chill and serve in your most elegant crystal bowl. You'll glow with pride when this fluffy pink dessert appears on the table. Fruited Holiday Pudding 1 package raspberry-flavored 2 tangerines, sectioned and gelatin ground 1 cup hot water Vi cup ground figs Vi cup cold water . Vi cup slivered toasted almonds 1 cup whipping cream Dissolve gelatin in hot water. Add cold water and ground tanger ines. Chill until slightly thickened. Whip cream. Then fold in figs, almonds, and whipped cream. Turn into serving dish. Chill. Garni.sh with additional whipped cream and tangerine sections, if desired. Makes 6 to 8 servings. ORDER EARLY!
