Mr. and Mrs. John Eubanks and daughter, Sandra, went to Arlington Sunday where Sandra was a guest of the Arlington 4-H Riding club and went riding with the group. Mr. and Mrs. Fredrick Martin returned home Sunday from a trip to West Linn where they visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Martin and other relatives. Mrs. A. T. Martin has been very ill. They also visited her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Horton in Dallas. They attended the legislature in Salem on Friday. Mrs. Ernest McCabe entertained the Bridge club at her home Fri day evening March 15. Those winning prizes were: Mrs. Ray Boyce, high; Mrs. Walter Corley, second; high and Mrs. Robert De Spain, low. Mrs. Harold Dobyns recently spent 8 days in Portland where she visited her sons and their families, Lt. JG and Mrs. Russell Holly and children and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Holly and children. Lt. and Mrs. Russell Holly re turned home with her and spent Mrs. Akers stated that her pro ject for this year was a double sink for the church kitchen. Mrs. Garry Tullis received the door The H. E. Others present were Mrs. Charles Wilkes, Mrs. John Hatfield, Mrs. Ruby Nichols, Mrs. Delia Corson, Mrs. Elbe Akers, Mrs. Ray Bar nett and Mrs. Ralph Crum. Mrs. L. A. McCabe gave a birthday party in honor of her son Alvln, Sunday March 17. Others present were Mrs. Alvin McCabe of La Grande, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Pettyjohn and child- J ren, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Crabtree and children, Mrs. Blanche Shee lar, Barbara Baker, Loy Keene and L. A. McCabe. Truman Cannon of Portland visited at the home of his bro naming some item of interest from a seed catalog. The city park committee, Mrs. Fredrick Martin, Mrs. Walter Dobyns and Mrs. Dale Ray reported that they had met with the city council and asked for help in the city park. The council was willing to cooperate with the club in a clean up and in maintaining the park. The club gave $5 to the essay and poster contest for children in the Blue Mountain district. Mrs. William Rawlins is the chairman. The club meeting was conduct.! ed by Mrs. O. L. Lundell. Dried arrangements were on display for making permanent wreaths. Refreshments were served after the meeting. Mrs. Echo Palma teer received the door prize. College students home for the spring vacation were Jerry Bris tow, Robert Hubbard and Alvin McCabe from E. O. C. E. at La Grande; and John Jepsen and Wayne Rietmann from Oregon Tech at Klamath Falls. At an American Leeion meet ing Wednesday evening March 13, Robert Hoskins presented two trophies received from the bas ketball games. One was for second place in the district and one for second place in the state. Hoskins was manager of the team sponsored bv the Leeion. The members made final Dlans for the annual dance March 30 at their hall. Some of the members will attend the mass initiation in Pendleton March 23. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Proudfoot of Portland spent Sunday with meir son and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Proudfoot. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Chick spent Sunday at the Roy Lind- strom home. Lexington Notes Jonnie Damielle returned to his home in Portland Friday after visiting his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. George Irvin. Maranathas Meet The Maranatha club met at the home of Mrs. Earl Mckinney Wed nesday atternoon March 13 with Mrs. Bryce Keene as co-hastess. There were 24 present. Plans were made for the buffet supper March 24 after the installation of Rev. Floyd S. Bailey, at the Commun ity church which is held at 5 p. m. Everyone is welcome to this. Mrs. Berl Akers, president, named her committees for the Easter breakfast to be held in the church parlors after the Easter sunrise services. May 5 was set for the Mothers and Daughters tea to be given in the church parlors. McLeod and George Kruger of Arlington at the McLeod home here in lone. A dinner was ser ved at noon.
