Pag 4 Lex Club Honors Mrs. Davidson By Delpha Jones The Lexington Three Links club honored Mrs. Robert David son with a cradle shower on Tuesday evening at the V. F. W. hall with the following ladies serving as hostesses: Mrs. Wil liam J. Van Winkle, Mrs. Leonard Hunkers, Mrs. Audrey Ansted and Mrs. Eldon Padberg. The room was cleverly decorated with a pastel colored umbrella with matching decorations. Games were played with Mrs. Mary Do herty winning the prize. McMillan were visitors at the Elmer Pom eroy home in Kelso, Washington over Thanksgiving, and witn Mrs. Lou Broadley who makes, her home with the Pomeroys. Mrs. Pomeroy is a sister of Mr McMillan. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Warner visit ed with the Clarence Hays fam ily in Corvallis and the Vernon Warner family in Portland over the holidays. Mr. and Mrs, Cecil Jones and children visited with Mr. Jones' brother, William N. Jones and a grandmother, Mrs. Katie Sheedy in Portland over the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Breeding of Grass Valley were dinner guests at the Geortre Irvin home over Thanksgiving. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Sawyer and daughter visited at the Mac hand home in Portland over the weekend and with Mrs. Kubeck and Mrs. Sawver in McMinnville. The Christmas programs are being prepared by the high school office practice classes. Christmas decorations will soon be put up in the halls by the sophomore class who also decorate the traditional Christ mas tree. These decorations will be taken down by the freshman class. Mrs. Joyce Wilkinson's commer cial rooms will be decorated again this year. Dec. 14 has been set for the next FBLA meeting and Christ mas Party. The journalism class has plan ned a Christmas party with every one giving funny gifts. It will be Dec. 15. Nov. 28 contractors started re placing sheet rock and wall board where water had damaged the new school. Gravel has been spread in front of the shop, the new school, and in the parking area where mud has hampered the move ment of vehicles. Basketball season will be started with the Boardman Jam boree Dec. 1 and the Arlington Jamboree Dec. 2. Heppner will be host to seven schools attending the agricul tural leadership training confer ence Dec. 2 at 1:00. The schools planning to attend are Wy East, Hermiston, Boardman, Pendleton, Stanfield, McEwen, and Milton Freewater. A school religious census is being taken by the Heppner Ministerial association. Students have filled out cards telling which they attend or prefer, The FBLA will complete their project of decorating for the chamber of commerce Saturday when they fill the candy bags and finish wiring fir boughs. Bauman left Wednesday morning'for Portland where he will attend the state sheriff's association convention. Vannoy was held during the holidays at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Max Vannoy, it be ing thefirst time in 17 years they had all been together. Present for dinner on Thanksgiving day were Mr. and Mrs. George Vannoy, Janesville, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Vannoy and four children, and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Vannoy and two children, Olympia Wash.; Lt. and Mrs. Rex Vannoy and two children, San Diego, Calif.; .and Lynn, Cheryl, Mark and Dayle Vannoy, children of Mr. and Mrs. Max Vannoy. Warm rain and wind Thanks giving day melted most of the snow that fell last week, with the minimum temperature Thursday 40 above. On Friday maximum temperature was 54 above. But on Saturday a steady rain fell all day. turning to slushy snow that night, bringing the temperature down again to 35 above. All the PONY KICKS By Mary Stewart The seventh grade is putting on a play entitled "Tim Meets The Dictionary," at an assembly this Thursday. This is their part of the program that has been set up this year so that each class is responsible for entertaining at an assembly. The new grade school library is opening this week. Mrs. Clary, head librarian, says it contains over two thousand books. High school students will be the li brarians in the afternoon, and most of the books will be checked put then. Mrs. Joan Sumner's first grade made a Thanksgiving mural on one of the walls. They divided Into groups and chose a chair man who was responsible for a part of the mural. The first grade has two new students, Gregory Kreimeyer and Catherine Ann Brunner. Gregory comes from Wallowa, and his father is the new forest ranger. Catherine moved here from Aber deen, Washington, and her father has taken over as the J. C. Pen- tiey manager. The third grade under the di rection of Mrs. Mildred Hanna put on a play about foods in their social studies class. Minimum Tuesday morning was still about 34. Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Ball, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Ball, and Bud Ball, all of Westfir, and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ball, Delake, were called here over the weekend by the illness of the men's father, Roy Ball, who was a patient in the Good Shepherd hospital last week. He had returned home Thursday, but had to go back to the hospital that night and on Friday he was taken to St. Mary's hospital at Walla Walla for fur ther treatment. He returned home Saturday, and his condition is much improved. Shirley Wiese, Leonard Olm stead and Leo Skoubo, students at O. S. C, Corvallis, spent the Thanksgiving holiday at their homes here. Carol Hamilton, stu dent nurse at Providence hospi tal in Portland, spent the holidays at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Hamilton. Donald Gillespie, student at E. O. C. E., La Grande, visited from Thursday to Saturday a.t the home of his " parents, Mr. and Mrs. Zearl Gillespie. Rena Ander son, also a student at E. O. C. E., spent the holidays at her home here. Mary Ann Rands, who teaches school at Richland, Wash., was at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Rands, for the holi days. Cecil Hamilton, Delbert Car penter and Max Fussell arrived home from Belling ham, Wash, on Tuesday of last week to spend the holidays at their homes. Early Friday morning Hamilton was taken suddenly ill and was taken to the Good Shepherd hos pital in Hermiston where he had emergency major surgery Sun day. son Jimmy, McCall, Idaho, were holiday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Rogers.
