Other officers elected were overseer, Leo Crab tree; lecturer, Mrs. Harold Dob yns; steward, Wate Crawford; as sistant steward, Marion Palmer; lady assistant steward, Mrs. Mar ion Palmer; chaplain, Mrs. Wate Crawford; treasurer, Mrs. James Lindsay; secretary, Mrs. Lewis Halvorsen; gate keeper, Hershal Townsend; ceres, Mrs. Harvey Ring; pomona, Mrs. Ernest Heli ker; Flora, Mrs. O. L. Lundell; the executive committee, Lewis Halvorsen, 0. L. Lundell and Er nest Heliker. The meeting was preceded by a potluck dinner. The H. E. C. of Willows grange held their meeting at the grange hall Saturday afternon and elected the following officers: chairman, Mrs. Harvey Ring; vice chairman, Mrs. Leo Crabtree; secretary, Mrs. 0. L. Lundell and treasurer, Mrs. James Lindsay. The Christmas party will be held Dec. 16 at the home of Mrs. John Eubanks with an exchange of gifts at the value of $1.00 The officers of the Community church met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fredrick Martin Sunday evening and discussed the prob lems of the church. Lundell had charge of the devotional program. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Martin and Mrs. Ray. Wayne Gollyhorn, son of Mrs. Doris Gollyhorn, is a patient in the Pioneer Memorial hospital with pneumonia. He is reported recovering satisfactorily. He is now in a Walla Walla hospital for treat ment. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Heliker entertained at a birthday dinner Sunday in honor of John Bryson. Others present were Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ray, John Hughes, Mrs. Lana Padberg and Ed Buschke. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Palmer and son Lee, attended a birthday party in honor of Miss Mary Ann Jensen at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln Nash in Heppner Thursday evening of last week. Mrs. Anne Smouse fell near her home in Heppner last week and broke a bone in her wrist. The Sophomores of the lone high school held a square dance at the Legion hall Saturday even ing and took in $40. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lundell of Oakland Calif., are visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Algott Lundell. A Hobby class has been organ ized at the school and they are busy making model airplanes. Mr. Pryce is the leader. The offi cers are: Ivan Akers, president; Phil Emert, Jr. vice president and Melvin Martin, secretary and treasurer. They meet Sunday afternoons. Janet Howton and Dorothy Dobyns, students at Pacific Uni- versify, were pledged to Theta Nu Alpha sorority. A bridal shower was given in honor of Mrs. Larry Jones in the; Community church parlor Mon-1 day afternon. She received many! lovely gifts. The hostesses were' mothers of last year's senior ; class. I Mrs. Echo Palmateer arrived, home Thursday of Inst week' from over a two months tour of the United States, Quebec Can-J ida. Some of the outstanding! visited in the United States were! Denver. Chicago, Detroit, Niagra' Falls, Boston, New York, Wash-j lngton, D. C, New Orleans. She' spent two weeks touring in Flor ida. SYome of the outstanding points on the trip were a tour of parks in the Rocky Mountains. The autumn coloring of the trees in the New England States and the trip on the Florida Keys. She stopped at San Lorenzo, Calif., and visited her daughter and family, Mr .and Mrs. L. J. Stract and also visited relatives in Berkeley, Calif. The trip was made by plane and bus. She was accompanied on most of the trip by her sister-in-law, Mrs. Mattie E. Morgan of Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Baker re turned home recently from a tour in Europe. They left from Que bec, Canada for South Hampton. They toured 11 European coun tries. It was a planned tour with 30 in the group. Dates to remember: Nov. 3 Three Links club at the Rebekah hall. Dec. 2 Beta Omega card party at the Legion hall for the benefit of piping water to the cemetery. The former date was postponed. Dec. 10 Food sale at the Re bekah hall. Sponsored by the Three Links club. Mrs. Delia Corson returned re cently from a trip. She visited In Reno and LasVagas, Nevada, Vic- torville, California where she visited her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Eldred Corson, and she spent a couple of weeks in Port land. She was accompanied by her niece, Mrs. Florence Swanson of Portland. Mrs. Rod Kvistad of Beaverton visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Peterson last week. Mr. and Mrs. Holmes Gabbert of Portland were visitors at the Wallace Matthews home last week.
