Children tak ing part in the dedication were Kenny Lynn Smouse, Ralph Mar tin, Gary and Marilyn Morgan, Judy and Geraldine Morgan, Jo Anne Tucker, Marlene Griffin and Linda Haivorsen. During the Sunday school in the morning promotion certifi cates were given in the different classes The Jolly Juniors recei ved Bibles for their efficiency in finding Bible verses. Their teach er is Mrs. Claude Riley. Those re reiving Bibles were Dianna Petty John, Kenneth Nelson, Ralph Martin, Gary Morgan, Geraldine Morgan, Jimmie Howton, Linda Halvorsen and John Rea. Other teachers in the classes are Mrs. Charles O'Connor, Mrs. David Rietmann, Mrs. E. M. Baker, Mrs. Echo Palmateer and Mrs. Roland Bergstrom, Mrs. Walter Roberts and Mrs. Milton Morgan. The mission which was held at St. Williams Catholic church last week was well attended. Rev. Lawrence Calkins of Chicago was the speaker. Mrs. E. M. Baker entertained her Sunday school class with a party at her home Friday even ing Oct. 3. Games were played and refreshments were served. Miss Wilma Dalzell is visiting in California. Mr. and Mrs. John Bristow of Corvallis spent the weekend at the E. W. Bristow home. John is a student at Oregon State. Donald Eubanks and Tommy White of Portland State College, Janet Howton of Pacific Univer sity spent the weekend at their homes. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rietmann and son have moved on the Vic tor Rietmann farm north of lone. The Grant Rigby family have moved in the Carl Linn house. Mr. and Mrs. La Verne Hams and daughters moved into the Corliss McLeod house on third street. Mr. and Mrs. Roland Bergstrom are the parents of a daughter, Shauna Marie, born Sept. 27 at the Pioneer Memorial hospital In Heppner. Weight 6 lbs. and lloz. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Marcum of Port land and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Berg strom of lone are the grandpar ents and Eric Bergstrom of lone and Mrs. Maggie Marcum of Meridian, Idaho and Mrs. Stella Trumbell of Kingston, Idaho, are the great grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Jannsen of The Dalles are the parents of a daughter, Yvonne Vera, born on Sept. 27 at the Pioneer Memorial hospital in Heppner. Weight 5 lbs. and 4 ozs. Gus Jannsen of lone and Mrs. Vera Portis of Heppner are the grandparents. Mrs. Archie Welch of Hermiston is the great grandmother. Weight 10 lbs and 414 ozs. Mrs. Josephine Buchanan of Irrigon is the grandmother. Funeral services for Mrs. India Jones 75, in Condon Sept. 30. Mrs. Jones died Sept. 28 in Condon and is survived by two sons, Law rence Jones, lone and Harold Jones of Astoria and a daughter, Mrs. Velma Collins of Portland. She lived in Condon since 1901. Mrs. Delia Corson spent a few days in Portland.. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Druse of Yakima are visiting at the home of her sister, Mrs. Ida Grabill. Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Lundell at tended the open house at the ! air base in Condon Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Robert DeSpain and son, Bobby Lee, spent Sun day at the David Raskin home in Pilot Rock. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Lawrence and Mr. and Mrs. Corliss McLeod of The Dalles spent the weekend at the David McLeod home. The men went deer hunting. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Ekstrom Jr. and son are visiting at the Herbert Ekstrom home. It was decided at a library board meeting Monday to dis continue the opening of, the li brary Tuesday evenings. Harvey Ring went to Portland and Salem last week to bring Mrs. Ring home. Mrs. Ring has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. Larry Fletcher in Portland and the Laxton McMurray home in Salem. Mr. and Mrs. Garland Swanson left for the East Monday. They went with Mr. and Mrs. Norman' Swanson of Portland. Mrs. Maryf Swanson is staying at the Gar land Swanson home during their absence. Mr. and Mrs. Dee Emert and children of Walla Walla spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Mary Emert and the Delbert Em erts. Mrs. Harry Yarnell is visiting her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Yarnell in Van couver, Wash. Mrs. Elmo McMillan of Salem, is visiting her mother, Mrs. Mary Swanson. Mr. McMillan went on a hunt ing trip. The March of Dimes dance sponsored by the American Le gion Post Saturday evening was not very well attended. Deer hunters in this area have had very good luck getting their deer. Ernest McCabe's Meat Mar-1 ket reports 28 deer were brought there for cutting up. The largest, weignea jm ids. c. a. swanson reported that '9 have been brought there and the largest dressed was 142 lbs. Herbert Ekstrom attended the Midco Hereford show and sale in Moro Honday and Tuesday. He took three bulls to sell. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Palmer entertained at dinner recently in honor of Miss Gladys Brashers of Los Angeles. Others present were Mrs. Orlo Martin of Moro, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ray, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Bristow and Mr. and Mrs. Milton Morgan. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Buchanan and daughters of Pendleton were visitors here Saturday. Mrs. Henry Peterson returned home from Kansas last week where she visited relatives. Mrs. Leo Crabtree and Mrs. Walter Corley spent the weekend , in Salem. Mrs. Corely, also visit ed her sister, Mrs. George Holder man, in Corvallis. The fire truck was called out Monday due to lint catching on fire in a clothes dryer at the Noel Dobyns home. The fire was out by the time the truck arrived. No damage was done. Mrs. Dolores Rowell of Pendle ton spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Drake. The Three Links club of the Bunchgrass Rebekah Lodge met at the home of Mrs. Mary Swan son Tuesday Sept. 28. They re ported that the roof on the I. O. O. F. hall was almost completed. The club decided to serve sand wiches, pie and coffee at their hall on Election day Nov. 2. Mr. and Mrs. Verner Troedson were recent visitors in Seattle, Victoria and Vancouver, B. C. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Lun dell and daughter returned home last week from Portland and th coast where they spent a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Algott Lundell are leavine this week for Oakland, Calif., where they will visit their son, Charles, and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Brownloy have as gusts, Mrs. Brownlow's sister, Mrs. Selma Sifritson and son of Menahga, Minnesota and Mrs. Brownlow's son and daugh-ter-in law, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Shire, and son and two daughters of Honolulu. Mr. Shire ls in the navy and is on a thirty day leave. m-at day's end.
