Any intelligent person knows that the bones of the body must be prop erly developed and in correct relation, part to part, if the body is to be nor mal in shape, but comparatively few recognize that correct relationship of the parts of the body is essential to normal functional activities. That faulty body structure is one of the great causes of human disease has been established by the science of osteopathy and has been abundantly proved in osteopathic practice; and when the mechanisms and the activi ties 6f the body are examined with this truth in mind, the fact becomes so self-evident that one wonders' it was so long neglected in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. How "Bad Mechanism in Our Joints" Makes Sickness and Why Correct Struccture Is the Foundation of Good Health While the word "osteo" means bone, osteopathic science and practice I does not deal with bones only, but in cludes the entire structures of the body: muscles, tendons, ligaments, blood vessels, nervous tissues, mem branes, organs, skin, etc. The ad justment of bones does not play any more important part in osteopathic practice than does the adjustment of other tissues such- as the ligaments and muscles. Those variations of bones from their correct or normal position, to which osteopathy gives its special attention, are usually very slight, but it is the effect of these slight deviations on surrounding tis sues which makes them so Important. Ligaments and muscles get strained and sore, then thicken and harden. Nerves and blood vessels which inter lace these ligaments and muscles, be come pinched and their currents ob structed. Nerve action and circula tion are impeded and stagnated and then follows abnormal functioning of one organ or another and the distres sing symptoms and conditions obsig nated as diseases under various names. Faulty body structure inter feres with nerve flow and blood cir culation. Without proper nerve stim ly; consequently, correct structurt is the foundation of good health. In the September Issue of Osteo pathic Health, which is an illustrated number, the structure of the body and the theory of osteopathy in re gard to the effect on health of mal positions of bones is explained in a very lucid manner. It tells about the bones which are most liable to slight misplacements that may cause grave disorders to health and why it is that THE misplacements of these particular bones, if not corrected, must inevit ably lead to disease conditions. You can get a copy of Osteopathic Health from any osteopathic physi cian for the asking. Do it today. You will be interested in the infor mation the magazine gives you about The the body and about osteopathy, even If you are not a victim of ill health. oover Approves KEEP ICE IN YOUR ICE BOX THE YEAR ROUND MOST EFFECTIVE WAY OF REDUCING HIGH x COST OF LIVING.
