Holt and wife and daughter, who have been living at Newberg since leaving Heppner two years ago, have been spending several days here and at Morgan the past week visiting with old friends. Mr. Holt was forc ed to leave Morrow county on ac count of failing health, but he ap pears to be enjoying the best of health-at this time. He was form erly engaged in farming in this coun ty and is now holding a position in the manual training department of one of the city schools in Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Otis Patterson, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ferguson of Canyon City passed through Heppner the last of the week by auto enroute home, after attending the funeral of Mrs. Patterson's uncle in Walla Walla. Mr. and Mrs. Patterson spent a few hours here meeting some of their old friends who were mighty glad to see them. W. S. Raker, special representa tive of the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, was tour ing through Morrow county last week by auto. He was accompanied by his daughter, Miss Mary Raker. They make their home in Portland. Elza Vinson of the Monument country was In Heppner the last of the week to receive some pumping machinery from Jos. Burgoyne of Lexington. Elza formerly lived here being the son of Geo. Vinson of Little Butter creek. Harlan McCurdy, Miss Delia Dav idson and Frank E. Cronan, well known lone young people were in the city Tuesday evening to see ttw big show, "The Birth of a Nation." Mr. and Mrs. Dlllard French of Gurdane were visiting with friends In Heppner last Friday and transact ing business here. John Marcus of Monument arrived in Hepner on Sunday with his clip of wool for storage In the warehouse here. , Mrs. N. R. McVay of Goldendale, Wash., Is making a visit at the home of her brother, Spencer Akers, in this city. Ed Rood was up from Portland the last of the week on business matters. Oscar Borg and wife are spending the week in Portland. Misses Lela and Lulu Campbell re turned home last Friday from Port land where they spent two weeks vis iting with friends. COLE BROS. Woodbury of Portland are visiting at the home of Mrs. Woodbury's brother, J. L. Wilkins in Heppner. Mr. Woodbury is special agent for the National Life Insurance Co., of Montpeller, Ver mont.
