They are trying, for political and other reasons, to ariay one group of citizens against another. Actually, there is no such thing as “class" in the United States. Abraham Lincoln once said: “There Is no permanent class of hired laborers amongst us. Twenty-five years ago I was a hired laborer. The hired laborers of yesterday labors on his own account today, and will hire others to labor for him tomorrow.” That, you say, was true when Lincoln lived,but is not true today? The city has three unused pumpers, Riley said, one of which might be lent to Tualatin. He said there is no otner extra equip ment available.
