j PERSONAL AND LOCAL j Miss Ida Stauffer has been the guest of Aurora relatives for several days. Clark Whitworth and family, who have been living on the Al Filler place, have moved to Ta coma. The Band boya are goin to give a dance Saturday night. They are determined to make this one one of the best of the year, and intend to have perfect order, good music and a irood time. Mrs. Peppen was in town Tues day. ' Miss Hannah Kraus is at Ore gon City attending the annual Institute of Clackamas Teachers. Frank' Miller is one of the Auroraites who visited Portland, Thursday. As far as natural scenery is concerned Aurora is as prettily . located as any town along the S. P. It only remains with her cit izens who have the affairs of their town under control to get In and beautify it. Shade trees planted along the road coming to town and a general cleaning up ;vould work wondors. Other towns no larger than Aurora have a commercial club and boost like every thing for home inter est. Wake up Aurcra. ' Jacob Miller was a Salem visi tor one day last week; ' Mrs. Henry Yergen was in Aerora Wednesday. The ladies arc preparing for a bazaar to be given for the bene fit of the Christian Endeavor. : Miss Tillie and Andy Fry were Portland visitors Thursday. Mrs. ' Jake Stauffer of Hub bard, is staying with her sister, Mrs: Miller. - Mrs. BiUgene Moshburger and children of Woodburn, spent Sat urday and Sunday with Dr. M. Gicsy and family. 1 Mr. and Mrs. Fred Yergen were in town last Wednesday. "Mr. Yergen was married to Miss Nona See of Woodburn. at Ash ;!and, October 21st.' Mr. and Mrs. Yergen are both well and favorably known and have the best wishes' of everybody. John .Whitworth and family, who lived near "Wood burn, have 'moved back into cur country again. Billy Bcuor and wife have moved back on the W. W. Irvin place. Mrs. Higgonbotham and Baby Morri3 were Portland visitors on .Tuesday. See the Souvenir Post Cards of the Colony Church and other local scenes at the Sadler and Kraus 'Store. Ed Herron of Woodburn, was over Friday. Ed is a hale fellow and well "met" and is always welcome. The school children had a holi day Tuesday. Anton Will was in Portland last Friday. Mrs. Flora Beck is home from Portland where ?hc has been for some time. George Schpll ar.J wife are re joicing over the arrival of a baby girl at their home. Mis3 Hattie Feller of Wood burn, Is at Aurora for a week or so. Joe Keller, who lives down near Muecke'g. has bill3 out for a sale on November 12th. Misa Viola Gribble was in Au rora Tuesday. A number of our young people went to Butteville last Saturday evening to attend the Lady Mac Rbees Dar.ce. Ehlen's Orchestra furnished the music and it was a very nice dance -the Lady Mac abees usually make it pleasant for all who attend. Chris Kochcr wa3 in Portland Friday. Hart of Portland, was in our vicinity doing busi ness this week. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Beggars are rejoicing over the arrival of a baby girl. Quite a goodly number of our eitizen3 have been laid up with rheumatism. Among them is Mrs. George Gooding, who has been confined to her chair for some days but is now reported some better. Mrs. Sol Miller is suffering with a sore finger. She ran a splinter under the finger nail and blood poison set in. Miss Sola Keller has resigned her position at the Pioneer Hotel and returned home. John Gabhler went to Portland last Thursday. Mrs. Geo. Yergen ard daughter Noma Were in Aurora Tuesday. Donix Schneur was ever from Donald Tuesday. Another runaway occured Sat urday ;morning. Mrs. Potrotlz and son while returning home from Aurcra met the . runaway team driven by Billy Bouer on the long bridge north-east of town, the noise of the running team frightening the Fotrotlz team so that they backed square lv across the bridee. Mrs. Pot- rotlz found time to jump out and climb to safety but after the col lision there was little left of her hack, her son was thrown in the air and it was found he had the small bone of his leg broken. Bill Bouer took a header, was much shaken but had no bones broken. One of his horses was badly injured. Pete Hunt was fortunate having been thrown at the first plunge of the horses and was not in the mix up. Wm. Schwaders and family are moving out on Schwader Bros, farm. A surprise party was given Sunday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Flora Bccke, it being Mr. and lJrs.' Nate Cole's crystal wedding. A large number were present and all enjoyed the after- noon. ! Editor Borealis: A word in regard to the Pud ding river bridge near Aurora, which the county should have looked after lone: airo. There have been several accidents on account of the short turn and narrow grade at the foot of the hill at the east end of the bridge and there should be at least one DEATH OF MRS. NOE. Julia E. Noe, wife cf Prof. J. G. Noe, and daughter' of J. E. and E. J. Mitts, was born at what is now known as Cams, seven miles south of Oregon City, Clackamas County, Oregon, on March 17, 1S78, and died near Needy, Oregon, on November 2, 190S, -aged 30 years, 7 months and 10 days. Eva. as she was familiarly known, wps a faithful daughter, a devoted wife, and a loving mother. She leaves be hind, a heart-broken husband and one little daughter four years old, besides her grief-stricken parents, five brothers, four sis ters, and many other relatives as well as scores of friends to mourn her loss. Mr. Fot roltz's boy suffered a broken bone below the knee and also a revere bruise to the knee. Mr. Baker received only slight injur ies, but one of the horses faired badly.'
